It a nice place to stay. The room was clean and the people were friendly and helpful.
The Grand Motel

Pros: Good location on one end of main street near restaurants. Underground secure parking. Life from carpark so don't have to lug bags. Clean. Cons: Scruffy with lots of paint scrapes. Cavernous room with bizarre ancient skylight (permanently closed) and porthole sized window. Air conditioning (it was below freezing outside at night) non-existent in the middle of the night so had to break out blankets from cupboard and then went into over drive so boiled - had a mind of its own. Phone had no charge in the morning - discovered power point it was plugged into didn't work - took several attempts to find one that did. Shower taps worked in reverse for some reason and water pressure poor (another of our party couldn't get their shower to work at all). Wi-fi painfully slow to the point of being useless. Night key for after hours access worked but door was stuck - returned to find group huddling in cold who couldn't get in. After several attempts finally opened. When we checked in discovered that holding credit card had already been charged (at 5pm). We actually wanted to pay separately for each room in the booking - but this was impossible. Only place in 2 weeks of travelling country NSW and SA where this was an issue. Efficient (too efficient ?) but brusque front desk - no country hospitality here. Summary: Not very Grand and overpriced for what is very basic accommodation that seems to be some relic of a 1970's architectural folly - must be better options in Griffith.
Econo Lodge Griffith Motor Inn

Bit of a disappointment. The Econo Hotels at Moree and Cowra have been renovated and look great. There was an expectation that the one at Griffith was also renovated. No. The light switch toggle in the room is about to pop out. The bathroom light switch is cracked. The phone shows ”in use” when it is not plugged into the wall phone outlet. Had to take the batteries out to remove the ”in use” indication. The fridge was rather noisy at night. Restaurant food was good though.

Easy after hours check in. Rooms fairly clean and tidy. Usually good accommodation for shift workers who need a day sleep. On this occasion it was noisy with staff members wanting to gain access to the room , even though a ”Do Not Disturb” door hanger was displayed. Staff chatted loudly outside room doors near lifts. Recommended to get a room further away from the Lift area. Otherwise a good stay.
The Griff Motel

We stayed in the family room and it was exceptional. Very large with a great kitchen. The parents bed is well separated from the kids room by a corridor and bathroom so no need to sit in the dark once the kids were in bed. The bathroom is large and very modern. Everything was clean and the beds sooo comfortable. It felt like we were staying in a high end apartment not a motel. Secure parking behind a large gate which did make after hours checkin a little tricky but we got there. The street out the front is being upgraded which also made access little confusing. But don't let any of this put you off. This is first class family accomodation. Easy walk to main street. Had dinner at Little Italy which I can also highly recommend.

Great value for money. Parking in front of room. Book direct for a great price. Had the big Breaky for only $15 and was massive and included a free juice. Beds were comfy and the room had good lighting to be able to read. Not much noise from workers leaving early in the morning.
