We’ve just returned from a very enjoyable stay at The Lancrigg. Nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel very much at home. As the weekend was for a large group and a surprise special occasion, a lot of planning was required ahead of our visit. Nothing was too much trouble for Katrina and she was always available to help in any way she could. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast, being help yourself, meant we weren’t rushed and could happily make an extra drink and take it to sit in front of the fire. A brilliant weekend in a beautiful setting. Thank you.

A little gem of a place, traditional and comfortable with amazing views. The room was perfect for our needs ( we had a six month old baby in toe) and all the added charms of the log fire and facilities made the place an ideal setting to relax or as a base for walkers. Breakfast was more than adequate and plentiful. This review couldn’t been complete without total praise for the staff, in particular Katrina, the Tasmanian devil, she literally doesn’t stop and is an absolute credit to the establishments owners. Nothing was too much trouble, her pleasant demeanour made her very approachable.

Just spent a fantastic weekend as a group of 14, (family and friends) for our Ruby wedding anniversary at the Lancrigg, a real home from home. Large lounge with open coal fire great for anyone to have a relaxing break with a brew or a beer. Katrina was brilliant, so friendly and helpful, always around if anything needed. Hotel is in an amazing setting, an easy 10 -15 minutes walk from the village.

Lancrigg is in a beautiful location and externally at least it is very attractive, however when you are paying £170.00 per night you do expect a reasonable standard. Our room (Dickens) was quite small and not particularly nicely furnished, no valence on the bed, rusting light fittings, sticking draws, toilet seat and shower rail both very loose, towels and toilet roll and a broken hand soap dispenser were the only bathroom products. The only time the heating came on was the afternoon of our arrival, certainly not the second night which was much colder. in fact there was no sign of the recent renovations claimed on the very slick website. and the whole room and the other areas we saw were looking somewhat down at heel. Breakfast which was described as “complementary” was a very poor buffet with a very limited choice of hot food, frozen bread to make your own toast, a few miniature croissants, tinned fruit and what tasted like the cheapest orange juice available. And if you want a hot drink, there’s the kettle, help yourself! So not the service we expected at that price point. We found the drinks in the bar incredibly expensive, though on a positive note the soup we had was very nice. Though yet again very expensive. You might notice a theme here. In our opinion they are charging a premium for the location and not delivering the rooms or service to match the price. We will not be returning or indeed recommending Lancrigg to anyone

Only guests on a Monday night, greeted by Josh the chef. Such a nice lad and very welcoming. Decided to stay for dinner before a walk with the pooches the following morning. Serene and Josh were the perfect hosts. Food was great, chat was flowing and nothing was too much trouble. Definitely visiting again!

Top hospitality and friendly staff, will visit again for sure. Warm and welcoming both the facility and staff. Location is excellent with stunning views. Grasmere village is a short walk and the surrounding Craggs and Lakes are also a short walk. The scenery is just out of this world.

Wow what’s an amazing place to stay. Just a 15 minute walk into grasmere villiage. Stayed in barn room 3 and it was beautiful, heated flooring, comfy bed, amazing shower, kettle with tea and coffee. Terrace right outside and a few steps away from the main house. Warmly welcomed by the lovely Katrina who showed us around the house and our room and was always around the help or chat. Josh the chef was lovely too and his sticky toffee pudding is the best I ever had. Breakfast was delicious and plenty to choose from with great views from the window. Great walks from the front door to Helm crag and Easdale tarn. Met the resident cat pebbles who I fell in love with. Will definitely return without a doubt loved everything this place has to offer. Just come back from our weekend stay at the lancrigg, we stayed in the pet friendly barn room 1 sequoia and what can I say but lovely. Room is spotless and a lovely shower . Kettle with tea and coffee , water etc ! TV has all the apps Netflix etc , plenty of space for our Labrador with his bed on the floor and he is a big dog ! Straight out into the fields which is ideal for dog. Hotel is charming with a continental breakfast with tea coffee fruit juice cereals ,fruit ,toast ,croissants and also bacon ,sausages and beans, enough to keep you going ! The staff are brilliant and help you in anyway they can. So relaxing and peaceful then a walk into grasmere which is charming, parking at the hotel too. A big thank you enjoyed our stay and will be back 😊
