Symponia Guesthouse

We (2 Pax) stayed here on our journey coming from Zimbabwe via Botswana to Namibia. Symponia Guesthouse - very new - build up 2 years ago is located in the Ghanzi area near by the town. The guesthouse is located on the A3 just before Ghanzi on the right-hand side when driving west. Super stylishly furnished - very modern in all respects. The service is super friendly and helpful. Only 1 dish is offered for dinner - whatever is on the table is eaten! And the food is excellent as well as the breakfast. We have traveled to this area many times and Symponia offers an ideal new alternative to the "well-known lodges" in the region, which are all getting on in years. Highly recommended - we will definitely be back.

This is the second time we as a group stayed there overnight. The first was in 2022 on a camping trip. The camping spots excellent with grass all over and very neat , functional ablutions. This time we stayed in the chalets that was also excellent - spacious , clean , comfortable. The owner and his staff present , helpful , friendly and meals very good. This is my designated stay-over place when holidaying in Bots or travelling through.

What a lovely place. Campsites are excellent with light, power and water and shared ablutions are spotless. Pool, breakfast and dinner available and a friendly owner who stopped by for a chat. Looked like they had a security guard at night. Bit of road noise buy quitened down at night. Perfect stop over between Bots game parks and Namibia.

After spending camping time in Caprivi, this was heaven to arrive at. Eben made us feel welcomed and joked we were given the honeymoon suite. Clean, tidy and new finishings. Friendly staff and safe parking. Will definitely encourage weary travellers.

It's taken me a while to write this review due to life getting in the way.... But better late than never.... Symponia Guesthouse is the perfect stopover on the way from Namiba to Maun (or vica versa). Our chalet was huge, modern and immaculately clean. There was a fridge, kettle, cups etc. The bed was super comfortable. The owners have done a superb job at Symponia. Breakfast was very good, staff friendly and helpful........what more could you need? We would stay here again for sure if we are back in Botswana in the future.

The perfect place to recharge after a few days camping out in the wild. Coming here felt like reaching an oasis after 5 days on Kubu Island. Wonderful, squeaky clean cabins, beautifully furnished, big comfy beds, air conditioned with a huge bathroom. Heaven! Water pressure and hair dryer remarkably strong. (Not often to be found, believe me.) Food was exquisite. Small, but very tasty selection for Dinner. Breakfast eggs on point. Staff was so very attentive and welcoming. Thank you all for a wonderful stay.

My husband and I stayed there and was really nice place. Staff really friendly and kind. Facilities are clean and well maintained. Was a lovely time!! My husband is a Greek Professor at the University in Amsterdam, and disagrees with the name but that not important.. thanks

We ended up here because our original booking at Kalahari Arms was cut short as they were overbooked. I’m not sorry, in the end even though it wasn’t convenient to move after one night. We booked Symponia after reading reviews on Tripadvisor. It’s a new venue and is getting really positive feedback. While it’s a bit outside of Ghanzi, it’s a quick drive and also cheaper than Kalahari Arms. It consists of eight rooms set around a circle with six campsites behind the rooms. There is a small pool and well maintained grounds with a bird bath and bird feeders with bring several species around to eat. The rooms are spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated. The bed is comfortable with an array of different pillows. The bathroom fractured high quality toiletries, a shower, and a tub. My only complaint was that the water pressure wasn’t very strong, but this is better from an environmental perspective. My only other minor issues were that there was no soap dish and no obvious place to hang up a hand towel right by the sink. There is a fridge, DSTV, fast Internet and other desirable amenities and features including a seating area inside and , a lovely place to sit and look up at the stars. We arrived pretty late, too late for the chef to whip up a vegetarian meal. Instead, I had a bowl of the featured cauliflower soup which, with a little seasoning, was very good. One of my colleagues had the ox tail and was really pleased with it. I got a good night of sleep as did my colleagues. One thing to note is that the hotel is just off the main road between Ghanzi and Maun. It was relatively quiet at night but you do hear the cars passing on the road. The breakfast was lovely with a focus on freshly prepared eggs to order. My omelette was excellent and there was freshly brewed coffee. I’m really impressed with this new hotel and am sure they will do really well. We’ve decided that Symponia is the place to be for all future stays in Ghanzi. You should too!
