The Richard Johnston Inn & 1890 Caroline House

We spent our 28th anniversary at the Richard Johnston Inn and absolutely loved it. Our room was beautiful and very clean. The staff was wonderful, especially Marissa. She was so helpful and on top of everything. Nothing we needed she was more than happy to help us with. The inn itself is so quaint and comfortable that we were sad to leave. We will definitely be back!

Liz provided wonderful host services and we felt very taken care of. Check in was a breeze and parking was convenient. This is an excellent location in downtown Fredericksburg and you can walk to everything. We will definitely stay again!

This is the only place we stay when we go into town in Fredericksburg. A great old in with a fantastic location, great rooms and all the comforts of home. The staff are the greatest. Liz the manager is the best. A professional and a great chef. Her breakfasts are always top chef quality in flavor and presentation.

We stayed at the Richard Johnston Inn in “The Loft” for one night while on a trip through DC & Virginia. The loft was a lovely room with the bed upstairs. Breakfast was served at 9 AM and it was delicious. The location of the Inn is perfect. It’s right downtown across the street from the trolley tour which I highly recommend. We did not realize the Inn allows dogs. We are not against dogs. However, the dog below us was barking a lot! Every time the owners left to go eat dinner or sightsee we had to listen to it. It was very annoying. As well, there is a restaurant on the next block that played music on Friday night. It was very loud and kept us up until midnight. That is not the fault of the Inn. I’m deducting a star because of the dog and the couch was old and we felt itchy while sitting on it, and received some bites on our legs either from fleas in the carpet or something else That we couldn’t identify. Marissa greeted us with a smile and had a friendly demeanor, and gave us suggestions on where to visit in town. She was lovely if you get to interact with her.

This was the cutest boutique hotel! In the Middle of the best part of Fredericksburg. The staff were oh so welcoming, a very nice compliment to The charming facility. We are like stay here again hands down over a more ‘contemporary’ stay in a chain elsewhere.

We stayed in the Caroline House suite for the second time - so comfortable and relaxing. Breakfast in the main house was outstanding. And everything beautifully decorated for the holidays! We highly recommend!

I can't say enough good things about the Richard Johnson Inn. Everything about our stay was simply perfect. Our room was ready when we arrived earlier than expected. Our host Liz was simply the best. Her and her staff made us feel like family. The chocolates and brandy were a great touch. The Kitchen Room was exquisite for this type of building. The breakfasts were delicious. Can't wait to go back.

Quaint historic house only problem was the air conditioning was too loud, but it was over 95 degrees. So better loud and cool than sweaty and hot. Pillows uncomfortable. Nice place.

The breakfast was below expectations for what we paid for. The main floor bathroom was quite a mess. Our room temp was uncomfortably frigid, like 60 degrees! It'd be nice to have smart TVs in the rooms so guests can watch their streaming services.
