The Wycliffe

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the Wycliffe Guest House in Folkestone. The building and rooms are very charming, relaxing, and clean. The hosts were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and healthy. Our room looked out over a lovely field and the Holy Trinity Church. The Guest House is located a short walk from the seaside and from several very good restaurants. The seaside itself was lovely as well, and we enjoyed swimming and sunbathing. We'd recommend a stay at the Wycliffe to anyone!

We stayed here as a stopover before and after our family holiday to France. It's not far from the Le Shuttle terminal. What a great place ! Sharon was really friendly, attentive, helpful and professional. Check-in was quick, smooth and easy. The rooms were exactly as we were expecting- clean, comfortable and equipped with everything you need (the biscuits went down particularly well with our son !!!). Good shower with plenty of hot water. Breakfast was great- served at exactly the time we'd booked it for. The onsite parking is a real bonus, especially as most on-street parking nearby seems to have restrictions. Overall, highly recommended and we'll be booking again if / when we go back to Europe. We stayed here for 1 night before setting off on our travels to France. We checked in quite late but still received a warm welcome. We were shown to our room promptly and were very happy with it. Really spacious room with en-suite. Even with 5 of us in there, plenty of room and very clean. Car parking onsite, excellent breakfast and just a short drive from the euro tunnel. We are looking at booking again for our next trip to Holland next year.

This is my second review, after my second stay. First time was two years ago. Quite simply, if you are looking for a pleasant, safe, no-nonsense and comfortable stay, do choose this Guest House. Sharon and Trevor, who own and run this Guest House are very competent and professional people. An added bonus - their personal and mindful approach towards each and every guest.

My family took up 5 rooms over Easter 2024 and all had a lovely time. The host (from South Africa) really looked after them. It's a lovely old Victorian building in good nick, clean and recently painted. The rooms are spacious, some with windows out to a garden and church. It has spacious communal space to relax and a bar which can be accessed through out your stay. My family said it reminded them of Faulty Towers without the crazy characters. They would love to come back.

Excellent place to stay! Sharon was a wonderful attentive host who was very gracious. The honesty bar was a delight after a long day of travel. The bedroom was cozy and warm and the amenities were very nice. The full English breakfast was a generous portion. I stayed two times during the past month 3 weeks apart and it was the same quality both times. Delightful!

Great guest house with central location for the town and along the Leas. Off road parking area very good as many roads are permit only spaces. Lovely welcome from Sharon with all information about the hotel and room. Lovely large room for family with 2 children (room 5) which was very clean and had tea/coffee facilities etc. Very free and easy stay. Had a very early start so did not need breakfast. Will definitely stay again when visiting family in Folkestone.

Welcomed upon arrival and very hospitable. A nice quiet independent space where you’re also left to do what you want to do given the front door & house key. The house has maintained its history - built in the 1800s I believe - and is very sweet! The breakfast is fab but I do think it needs to be bigger - I had 1 sausage, 1 bacon and 1 scrambled egg for a standard breakfast. Toast was endless though! The bedrooms need bigger beds but of course I can appreciate the rooms aren’t big enough to always accommodate. The shower we had was temperamental; very hot then very cold before adjusting itself. The windows in the room are soo nice and big which is refreshing! The property is very, very clean. Parking isn’t allocated but around an off road bend and you have to hope you get a space. Nice stay though and would come back again Nice touches were the complimentary toiletries! thank you!
