This place is a resurrected hamlet. Thick stone walls, amazing sights - and a staff that is efficient, responsive and sweet. Highest recommendation!

From beginning to end, this is an exceptional place. Friendly staff who go the extra mile, lovely stone houses with little gardens, amazing breakfast, wonderful views...... We were there over New Year and it was ideal. A piece of paradise on the edge of Europe

This is such a cool spot to stay. It feels like you are walking back into history. We loved the feel of the whole place. The houses are comfortable, and have kitchens and a back yard. Everything is made of stone, the houses, the walkways, the walls. It was really pretty, with lots of gardens and flower pots. This is not a luxury hotel. It's more about the experience. We stayed 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. Breakfast was good. It's served in the restaurant where they also serve dinner. We had dinner there the night we arrived and were not as pleased. We ate outside at the picnic tables. They have a major cat problem. We love cats, and have a couple of our own. But I do not want them jumping on the chairs and tables, trying to get food. It made for an uncomfortable experience. Choose to sit inside. There are fewer bugs and no cats! The food itself is great. The staff are also wonderful.

Such a unique property! It was as if time stood still! We stayed in one of the restored, fully equipped 300 year old cottages. Staff is super friendly and helpful with recommendations and reservations, and the restaurant on site is outstanding (definitely make a reservation!). Saw one of the most amazing sunsets while enjoying a glass of wine on our patio.

Staying at Aldeia de Cuada was a unique experience. The small village is charming and very romantic and feels like it froze in time. The location is great and just a 5 minutes drive from Faja Grande and from the waterfalls Ribeira do Ferreiro, which you can see from the village. The staff was friendly and helpful and we loved the tour in the village. We stayed in a 2-bedroom house at the far end. We were on our honeymoon and a bottle of champagne waited for us in the kitchen and was a nice touch. The house had a fairly equipped kitchen, the bed while not great was more comfortable than it looked like (and had plenty of blankets), and we loved our garden and the views around us. A laundry drying rack was also very useful. While most of the time we traveled in Flores and didn't plan to spend too much time in the house, a stormy day left us stranded and we enjoyed relaxing in our little house drinking tea, reading and listening to music (the Bluetooth speaker was a great addition). We arrived at noon on a sunny day and at it was hot and humid inside. My husband who sleeps with the A/C on even in winter was worried the place will get too hot, and the staff immediately went to find us a fan. In hindsight we really didn't need it, it was cool enough at night. But it helped dry our laundry. 😁 Disliked · While we loved the authenticity, some things don't need to be vintage, like the old, worn out towels. The shower was also leaking a bit. We would have appreciated a more comfortable mattress and stronger light bulbs as it gets a little too dark at night. Some of the furniture, like night stands and the kitchen chairs felt very flimsy. As a vintage lover I appreciated the furniture, but they could use some renovation to keep or usable without hurting its original look. At breakfast they offer filtered coffee and charge an extra 2 Euro for a Cappuccino which felt very petty considering the price of the stay. Dinner was overpriced and not great for the price, we only dined there once. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this unique experience. The flaws are minor and very easy to fix, and the only reason we mention them is the high price.

The most unique stay I’ve ever had. You get a stone house with kitchen, dining area, one bathroom, and two bedrooms. It’s rustic, so no TV or Wi-Fi. The location feels like a bio reserve, with great views of the ocean. Breakfast is well worth the add on and make reservations if you plan to have dinner there.

Great place for an authentic feel of living in Flores. Staff are very helpful and friendly, and even took our luggage to our next accommodation (which also happens to be owned by the same people), however, they did this without us asking or requesting. Breakfast was great - with warm options one could order from the staff, or you can opt for just the cold cuts etc. A nice romantic setting, where one can see cows, and even donkeys up close. Since the vibe is authentic, note that there is no wifi in the rooms, but you can use the wifi in the reception area. Also, the roads are cobbles, which is very cute and authentic, but be careful that it does get slippery when it rains.

Positives: - the staff were all so friendly and helpful. They brought our bags to our house so we didn’t have to carry them across the uneven path - the village and houses are so cute! They are quite unique accommodation - all of the beds are very comfortable (firm) and extra blankets are provided if needed - very quiet! You could easily sleep with the windows open and sleep undisturbed Negatives: - the double beds are small. This is common for this region but still uncomfortable if you are large - several maintence issues, like the dishwasher was broken and flooded and the cleanliness in the corners etc was not the best (they are old so that doesn’t help) - we had no basics like salt, coffee, or cooking oil (this was provided at every other place we have stayed like this). They did leave 4 tea bags and have free coffee and tea in the office 24/7 - the house was so cold! We tried to start a fire several times but the wood was so wet that it wouldn’t stay lit and they old provided 3 small heaters for a huge house. We were all very cold.
