99 Surf Lodge

This place is spectacular! We flew into Costa Rica and they arranged a ride for us to the hotel which was incredibly helpful, especially through the border. The food is great, the drinks are great, the pool is great; what more could you want?? I didn't realize that not all the rooms were right on the beach, but it was a 5 second walk so that wasn't a big deal at all. They arranged a beautiful champagne dinner for our group, and were able to accomodate our friend that was vegan even though it was supposed to be a set menu that night. Even after we had left there for a week, we were having trouble making it back across the border, and they arranged rides for us again, even though we were no longer their guest. We were floored by the customer service and the speed in which they responded to messages. Absolutely loved it here, and would highly recommend!

STAY HERE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!! I can't say enough great things about 99 Surf Lodge but let me try: Location: Incredible location right on the beach, which is so pristine and untouched. within walking distance to the surfing beach (Beginner's Bay), and the other small shops nearby. waking up here every morning was magic Service/Staff: unmatched! the service was so great, from the amazing girls who work the front desk and serve drinks and food to the chef to the cleaners, everyone is so nice.Make sure you bring cash to tip! We tipped on the card but we wish we would have brought cash. Food/Drinks: We didn't go anywhere else on the beach to eat, the food here was that good. Get the chicken caesar salad or honestly anything else. We drank them out of passionfruit juice (sorry!) but the sangria is great as is their wine selection Rooms: The rooms are standard surfer rooms, with an entry way to hold surfboards and large king beds with nice bathrooms. AC in each room. Nothing too special, but you're barely spending time in the room anyway. Common Area/Pool: Even better in person! It was also mostly empty during my stay, except one day when a family bought a day pass to use the pool and in that case we just hung at the beach. Pictures don't do it justice. Nothing like sitting on the beach and seeing the sun set over the sand. It doesn't hurt that I made incredible friends when I stayed there! Half of us didn't even surf, but lessons there are great if you do decide to give it a try. My friend ended up loving it and going every day we were there. This is definitely a rant but IDC this was a highlight of my entire 2 week trip to Nicaragua. can't wait to be back!

The hotel architecture is nice, modern and reduced, the view and location right at the beach can not be topped. The food was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful . Beautiful peaceful place

If I could rate this a 0, I would. First time going to this place, and they called security on me because I was complaining that my room a/c was not working. Since we complained, they just told us in a mean way to leave and called security which made me feel intimidated. They pressured us to leave immediately. I wouldn't recommend this place ever. I posted a review on Facebook, and the staff called us psycho—the worst customer service experience in my life.

The pictures don’t match what you see in person. We rented two ocean front rooms. We arrived at 1:00 pm and when I walked in the person behind the bar just looked at me like what are you doing here no good afternoon then when I told her I wanted to check in she told me check in was a 2pm. Oh then she told me to relax . Very unfriendly staff. Now the rooms one of the rooms smelled like old urine. The bedding was horrible one flat sheet froze to death. And then at4am water dripping from the ac falling on my head. Not a very good experience. I understand check in is 2pm but could of been handled better. Very petty.

The food was absolutely amazing! The staff was also super nice and helpful! Would absolutely recommend 10/10 with the activities, ease of transport and surfing accommodations.

This was my first stay in the region of Popoyo, and I chose this location because of the minimalist chic design, and the availability of AC. The pool is nice and kept clean, the food, bar, and service all meet expectations. The bed is somewhat comfortable but you do hear the ocean break all night long. If you are not used to this, or you have a light sleep you will hear the crashing waves for hours on end. This is located in front of the very long Santana beach, with Magnific Rock to the north and Rancho Santana to the south. You cannot go wrong with 99 Surf Lodge really.

A basic hotel, with decent amenities. An incredible number of bugs, due to the broken mesh on the windows. Would not return, especially for the price. Staff were incredibly accommodating and kind.
