I drove over 5 hours from Austin for a marketing trip in the Rio Grande Valley. Got checked in, unpacked and went to grab some dinner. When I came back to the room, all I wanted to do was take a shower and go to bed. When I opened the shower, I was disgusted to see it full of pubic hair. It was evident the shower wasn’t even rinsed out, let alone cleaned. I started looking closer and found even more hair on the floor outside the shower. I went downstairs ( because when I tried to call the front desk I discovered the phone didn’t work) but because it was almost 9 PM there was no one in housekeeping to clean it up. I asked if I could use a vacuum and was told no. I asked if there was a manager on-site, there was not. The guy at the front desk texted someone and asked if I could use a vacuum and was told no, they could move my room. Problem is the elevators also didn’t work so I already had to drag my luggage upstairs, the new room would be up more floors and why would I have reason to believe that a new room would be any cleaner? Very disappointed and grossed out.

Upon checking in and going to room we discovered there no towels or soap in the room. I called the front desk and was told that they’d bring them “right away” which apparently means sometime between 20 minutes and an hour. I called the office again and was told they were too busy. I finally went to the office to get towels and told them there was no soap either. The response? “Motel 6 no longer supplies toilet items but I’ll give you some we have leftover?” Really? No soap? How is one supposed to was one’s hands after toilet use or bathing? How is one supposed to know this? TripAdvisor didn’t notify us. What’s next? Will I have to bring my own toilet paper? Are my own sheets next? Should I not expect a little soap for $75 a night? Motel 6 just lost another client.
