Parkside Hotel Apartment

Dubai|1.25km from Persia Court, Ibn Batuta mall
As other reviews state, THIS HOTEL IS A SCAM. Firstly, they tried to charge me 200 AED for non existent stains on curtain and bed. They couldn’t provide any proof and when somebody came to the room they changed the story multiple times and added a stained sofa too despite me showing time stamped photos. When questioned if this costs 200AED to wash a bed sheet that was being accused, his reply was “yes” Luckily they do not have access to my card to charge this anyway so can’t charge me. On check out, (we checked out a day early) somebody had to “check” our room to see if it was okay.. 5 mins after we had apparently left green / yellow stains on the towels. ANOTHER LIE. We know this because we knew we were checking out early so had everything clean and changed ready to leave, so there were actually no dirty towels left in the apartment as they were all fresh. I believe they were going to try and charge us until they realised they couldn’t. I can only believe this was now an act of racism towards us. Despite the cheekiness of the staff trying to falsely charge us. Here’s everything that’s wrong with the hotel: Not as described as on listing: - Therefore I am Entitled to claim section 75 of credit card and receive a full refund. 1. Swimming pool - doesn’t say it’s a 10 min walk and didn’t answer emails when I asked twice on email before arrival where I had free cancellation, It says on the listing is has direct access 2. No balcony as shown on the photos 3. No fire extinguisher in room as advertised 4. It says there is separate seating area and a separate dining area. There isn’t. There is 2 dirty chairs around a small circle table next to the bed. 5. Advertised free WiFi but can only have on 4 devices 6. Advertises free private parking but doesn’t say that it’s public parking and hard to get a space at night time. Sometimes even having to park far away from hotel with 2 small children is really not ideal. 7. No ironing facilities or iron as advertised 8. No video games as advertised 9. Room that was pictured on listing we booked is not the same room we are in. 10. No city view as stated from my room. 11. No coffee machine as stated in “all rooms” on *********** 12. No dryer as stated in “all rooms” on *********** Broken stuff : 1. Cooker doesn’t cook properly - told staff about this they brushed it off. 2. Telephone 3. Clothes airer half broken and rusty really had 4. Nail hanging out of floor in bathroom 5. Plates are chipped 6. Broken wardrobe 7. Hot water only gets lukewarm and not hot 8. Tap does not work and if using the “warm” water it isn’t strong pressure it’s very weak Other issues: 1. Had to chase 3 times (twice in person, then over email) for the microwave, toaster and bath plug that was supposed to be here 3 days prior, they then called the doorbell after I had to email at 8:30am and woke up my children. 2. 2 coat hangers available for a family of 4. 3. Had to chase for plates, cups, bowls, cutlery, everything that should be in th

Room is clean and spacious, but lacks amenities like toothbrush. Service is great, breakfast was ok. Location really depends, perfect for people needing to catch the bus to Abu Dhabi airport which stops right next to the hotel, but quite far from downtown dubai and other attractions, even if the hotel is next to metro station.

+ ve Nice bedroom (get one on the opposite side to the pool if you want peace and quiet) Comfortable large bed Nice pool area (good music played) Ibn Battuta metro station and mall on the doorstep Pool bar serving alcohol - ve Average breakfast No lounge area Hindu “Holi” event during our stay was carnage and resulted in the pool area being out of operation for more than 24 hours whilst they cleaned up the mess - and even after that, the furniture was stained with the coloured paints/powders that had been thrown around :-(. On the whole we enjoyed our stay at the hotel.

The hotel is very convenient. It is a 5-minute walk from the subway station. There are also many supermarkets and restaurants downstairs. It is said that there is a small Chinese supermarket nearby that I didn’t find. It may be relatively hidden.

More about Dubai

Introduction to Dubai: A Confluence of Traditions and Futurism

Located on the Eastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, in the south west corner of the Arabian Gulf, Dubai is one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates. Known for its opulent architecture, luxury shopping and vibrant nightlife, Dubai offers an irresistible blend of traditional Arabic culture and futuristic innovation. This city is home to the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa, and it boasts an artificial island in the shape of a palm tree, the Palm Jumeirah!

Tips for Travelling to Dubai

Dubai International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world, serves as the primary gateway to the city. The Dubai Metro, taxis, and ride-hailing services like Uber are commonly used to navigate the city.

Visa policies vary depending on nationality, so travellers are advised to check the UAE embassy website in their respective countries. Credit cards are widely accepted and the official language is Arabic, but English is commonly used, especially in business and by the large expatriate population.

As for traditions, remember that the UAE is a Muslim country and visitors should dress modestly in public. Also, the consumption of alcohol is regulated and is typically only allowed within licensed venues.

Unforgettable Attractions in Dubai

Dubai's iconic skyline is dominated by architectural marvels like the Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab and the Palm Jumeirah. Shoppers will find their paradise in the Dubai Mall and the traditional Gold and Spice Souks. For a dose of culture, one can visit the Dubai Museum, Al Fahidi Historic District or the stunning Jumeirah Mosque. The adventurous can explore the vast Arabian Desert on a safari.

Weather in Dubai and the Best Time to Visit

Dubai has a hot desert climate with extremely hot summers (June to September) with temperatures frequently reaching 41°C (105°F), and warm winters (December to March) averaging 24°C (75°F). The most comfortable time to visit is from November to April.

As for clothing, light, breathable fabrics are recommended due to the heat. However, it's also wise to carry a light jacket or shawl, as indoor areas can be heavily air-conditioned.

Selecting the Right Hotel in Dubai

Dubai's hotels are as varied and impressive as its skyline. To stay near main attractions, consider the Armani Hotel inside the Burj Khalifa.

For a food-centric stay, Pierchic offers gourmet dining and is located near various eateries.

For luxury accommodation, the Burj Al Arab is an iconic choice, while budget travellers can consider Rove Downtown, which offers great value.

Business travellers might appreciate the convenient location of Dusit Thani near the business district. Atlantis The Palm offers highly Instagrammable views and interiors. Near the airport, the Dubai International Hotel offers convenient and comfortable lodging.
