Amazing building and gardens. Chapel and old courtyard very charming. Dinner in the dining room a memorable experience with good food and atmosphere. Too cool to swim for us but the pool looks nice. A lot of character to our room and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

This 12th century monastery is one of the most beautiful and unique places we have ever stayed and it was truly a highlight of our recent trip to northern Portugal. The hotel is steeped in history and we enjoyed just wondering through the various rooms, the peaceful cloister, the immaculate grounds, and the church. Our room was comfortable and quiet. The location is a short, inexpensive taxi ride from the town's center or you can walk. The only thing that could use some slight improvement is the breakfast.

Very Romantic place. The stuff is very professional. The gardens are very beautiful where we can spend a lot of time outside for walking around the surrounding area of the monastery. The breakfast is superb. Very good experience to repeat.

the architecture is stunning. 12th century integrated with modern touches in beautiful balance. Gardens blend off into deep forest. Soothing waterfall with grotto. Breakfast was sumptuous buffet. Cannot recommend highly enough!

An unforgettable stay, to celebrate the Birthday. A beautiful Hotel / Monastery, very well maintained and cared for. A restaurant with great service, with a regional touch and very "chic". The entire team was extremely friendly and professional. Without a doubt, a visit and experience to repeat.

We love the experience of a stay in this beautiful historic Pousada. It feels like sleeping in a museum. The rooms are overlooking the valley with the town of Guimaraes. The staff is friendly and helpfull and make you feel welcome. Breakfast is perfect. And even so are the bar and the restaurant. We recommend to take the nearby funicolare to Penha and have a beautiful walk down to the Pousada, before dinner. We will definitely come back.

We enjoyed our stay in this lovely hotel. The linens were great, staff very helpful and polite, breakfast was wonderful, the grounds and formal gardens lovely! I recommend this hotel. It is set above the city but a short walk to the center. Enjoy!

Rooms are good. The breakfast is less than good. Instant coffee? Really? Thankfully the waiter could bring us cappacino. The bread is not fresh baked. The eggs are a goopy mess. I’m in a grumpy mood over the coffee. I did like the view from the room.
