H10 Playa Esmeralda - Adults Only

The Hotel. The hotel is situated approximately 1hr 30 from the airport. Upon arrival at the hotel (20:30) check in was swift and I was given a glass of cava- which was nice. My allocated room was on the third floor- facing the side of the building with a partial sea view- (it’s what I booked) I was guided to my room by the receptionist- Roccino (Apologies if I’ve spelt this incorrectly). She was very helpful and polite-thank you. The Room. I had booked a double room - and it did not disappoint. There is plenty of storage - drawers and wardrobe space. There is a safe which I rented for the week- £2:70 per day. You get the key from reception - place at the lock on the safe and then tap in your four digit code. The key itself, can then be left inside the locked safe - without the need to carry with you. There is a kettle/ tea, coffee and a complimentary bottle of water. There is a fridge (empty ) but no mini bar. There is no plug point near to the long mirror - awkward to style your hair with any electrical appliance- I used the reflection of the flat screen tv on the wall. The bathroom was large with walk in shower with -body wash, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. There are no tissues, slippers or robes. I noticed a couple of days into my stay that some guests had H10 beach towels. I enquired at reception where I could get one from- I was informed I should have been allocated one when I checked in. They are complimentary- but €3 if you want to exchange for a clean one during your stay. The Buffet Restaurant. Despite me arriving late in the evening, I was able to eat some lovely food- there was no shortage and it was fresh- replenished frequently. I found this throughout my stay. There was an excellent selection of meats and fish that were grilled for you as you wait. There was a lovely display of every salad item you cared to eat - and a good selection of hot sides too. The soups I ate were absolutely delicious- and piping hot too. Although I’m not a dessert fan- I did look what was on offer and it all looked delicious. At breakfast you can order your own omelette with a choice of vegetables/ ham. There is a juice/smoothie bar which are all blended from FRESH fruit- together with a platter of beautiful fresh fruits. There are tea/ coffee machines where you can get yourself. The servers will take orders for any wines beers etc. All throughout my stay there was always something available that I liked. The Pool Bar/ snack area. This is located pool side and serves the usual beverages and snacks. There is a small buffet - but you can scan the QR code and order freshly made food. There are always plenty of sun loungers available. Stromboli Restaurant. I was allocated a reservation as I was on an AI basis. The Caprese salad was tasteless and bland. The pizza was a little overcooked for my liking. Service was good though. There is a small hotel shop for essentials located near block one which essentially at the rear of

Overall, a lovely hotel and we enjoyed our stay very much! The room is spacious (side sea view- excellent view) and terrifically clean. Tea, coffee, green tea, mint tea is plentiful enough, although a few more UHT milks left would have been useful. We did the practical thing and went to the Spar (10 minute walk) to get milk for the fridge so no problem at all. The beds were two big beds side by side and were super-comfortable! Great selection of pillows so pick your favourite and the rest are put on the chair for the night Shower takes some figuring but I’ll leave that for you to puzzle. (Hint: leave the hot tap and just twist the cold. You’ll figure it out.) Breakfast had plenty of selection, however perhaps more to the continental palate than British. Plenty of cheeses and sausage slices, pickles, pastries…small fish fingers, chips… you get it. But lots of fresh melon and fresh smoothies and if you want an omelette or a crepe making, no problem. Bread selection was excellent. We were half board so only had dinners otherwise but again, good selection on offer. Paella available every night, fresh fish, sometimes seafood, lamb, pork and beef on the grill. Always a casserole or two, pasta, Canarian potatoes. The lot. Was it tasty? Some was excellent (loved the sushi and chow mein!) but other dishes not to my own palate so best thing to do is take a tiny amount of what you fancy then go back for more if you like it. As with all buffets, food may or may not be hot by the time you eat it. Pool was cold but it’s January so what else would I expect! Two saunas and an indoor pool were very welcomed. In short, great hotel in a lovely location but perhaps not the loveliest of a similar ilk I’ve been to. Would I recommend? Absolutely (if you cherish a view, choose an upgrade. Most rooms have views but an upgrade means you get a better one). My only criticism: the hotel could do with maybe a little more signposting about the place. We had to ask where certain things are. Yes, they give you a paper map but a few ‘this way to the…’ would be really helpful.

We would rate our experience as ‘Good’ but Trip Advisor’s scoring doesn’t work in this way! This is a typical H10 large all inclusive adult only hotel, visiting in January was out of season but it was still very busy. We stayed for two night while exploring island. Firstly a very warm welcome by the reception team, great rooms (with a balcony) plus a great choice of rooms before you book. Nice swimming pool (cold) and bar area and friendly team. Entertainment was varied and of excellent quality. Premium drinks at the bar on all inclusive package. Excellent choice of food (lots and lots to choose from so even the fussiest eater would be welcome here) where it’s let down is the pure number of people dining at the same time. Resturant gets very busy, plates, bowls and cups become an issue because the team can’t handle the pure amount of people . The team work really hard on the ground and in the Resturant but it does become an issue, we tried dining later but then you loose the variety of food. It’s a very hard balance with the number of people so we just took the chilled out approach. Some descriptions/translation of food signs wasn’t correct (raised this with the Resturant manager but he didn’t seem too bothered). Overall an enjoyable stay, we would return if in the area and a great stay for anyone who’s wants an adult only typical all inclusive experience.

This was our fifth visit to this hotel and once again it has not disappointed. The location is perfect the staff wonderful and the rooms spacious and clean. We never run out of choices in the restaurant regardless of time. Having premium branded drinks throughout the day is a plus. The only slight disappointment was the food in the speciality restaurant- Stromboli was not as good as in the buffet restaurant.

This was our 2nd visit to this well run, beautifully serviced and food and drink in abundance hotel and exceeded expectation! Check in was a little longer than expected due to the fact we are H10 club members and our information had to be updated on the system. That said, it was aquired with a cold glass of cava in my hand and a friendly persona at front of house so all was good! We were upgraded to a fantastic full Seaview room with extra little touches (turn down service, bathrobes /slippers and bottle of wine /cava for room and welcome gift of delicious chocolates) just for being a club member! This was a fantastic treat which for us, means a lot. Everyone we encountered in the hotel was friendly, happy and obliging. ALL services were to a high standard as well as fantastic choice of food at mealtimes and branded drinks package. The oWe would especially like to mention the ladies that cleaned the blue bar area every afternoon. The attention to detail was fantastic with no table or chairleg left unwashed. They could certainly teach our hotel industry a lot! We had the most memorable time for all of the right reasons with a beautiful beach too We will return in the near future to sample some more of your canarian hospitality! Thank you.
