Crowne Plaza Chennai Adyar Park

Chennai|1.4km from BR Mathsya
This place was recommended by a friend who stays at Boat Club and I read reviews in Google, Tripadvisor and Aggregator sites.   We booked 2 rooms for 2N/3D stay at Crowne Plaza, Adyar, Chennai through an aggregator site. I called up the hotel to check on our reservation confirmation, but we were told that only one room is booked and they do not have second room confirmation. I called up the support team of aggregator and they confirmed it is 2 rooms and they called up the hotel and shared us an email confirmation. Later I called up the reservation desk and understood that 2 rooms are booked and it’s a confirmed reservation.   Our Check-in experience was good and the staff were courteous and quick.   We were allotted two rooms in old block at Floor number 14 (Room No 1403 and 1405). For a moment I recollected the online reviews I read and the pictures I saw about this hotel weren’t in the same. I thought I will revisit the reviews online and double check If I had made any mistakes in booking wrong hotel. I also called up my friend and told my experience isn’t great and the rooms are looking OLD and the plumbing systems inside the wash room and room telephony isn’t working well. I invited the hotel Duty ***ager (Mr.Josua) and showed him the plumbing system inside the wash room and asked him just because the I happened to book from an aggregator site and got attractive deals, we were given a poor looking rooms? Or is this a standard rooms that they offer for all type of bookings. (we discussed this after experiencing our stay in poor and old looking rooms for 1 night).  Mr.Josua said the rooms in this floors are due for renovation and they would allot us rooms from new block. I told I would like to see the room before we move in. Mr.Murali took us to the new rooms and I could match the room pictures as posted in review sites. I told Murali and Josua, it is outrageous that they allotted old rooms to gullible guests. We moved into new rooms in Floor 25 (in new block)   The breakfast was awesome and service host (I think his name is Jibin).

Hello to all readers and to all staff @ Trip. I stayed here for 3 nights along with my younger brother and my Dad. The hotel room reservation was done on the phone. Word of mouth. A promise of sort. Big thanks to Mr Kumaran Jee. I was promised, for sure. This was a good gesture that I still appreciate. No pre-payment or Credit card guarantee . Room 105 for me, Room 102 for my bro, another room for my dad across the first floor. Check in was easy and smooth for all of us. The fact we arrived at different times in the morning. My room had most amenities-- mini fridge to store my water , safety locker, coffee/tea kettle, laundry etc. If you wish / want to stay here , please be prepared to deal with plenty of noise inside your room. Traffic, wednesday PM DJ at the bar and more traffic. The windows are sealed but not sound proof. You will hear the noise reverberating from the bar and traffic honking. The breakfast at the restaurant downstairs is ok. Adequate I must say for me. Not delicious but good for 6 hrs till lunch time. I didn't eat lunch or dinner here, except the day I checked in. The evening supper was bland and the AC in the restro was artic weather. I had curd rice with a spiced lentil broth. My dad had a salted onion crepe ( dosa) with sambar and chutney. It rained almost every evening after I checked in. The hotel has an onsite bar underground , that functions everyday from 11am to 12 midnight. For reservations , please call Mr Kumaran Jee. Rest will be done. Pics attached.

The Raintree, Anna Salai

no swimming pool even though advertized. no air conditioning in teh corridors. the carpet in the main lobby stinks. the rooms are nice and spaciaous and the service staff is excellent. the bathrooms are also nice and big and water is hot on demand. in my specific bath, the mixer was broken so water came out of the both teh show and the hand faucet together. towels are clean but only 99% dry. bathrobes are fresh and comfortable. so are teh beds and pillows. The inroom entertainment was very poor. (the raintree in st mary's road has better curated selection of entertainment). the views are of urban streets so nothing much to say. the colour schme is horrendous but that is only my personal opinion. The 24/7 coffee shop ”kitchen” had nice breakfast and dinner buffets with a wide range of food, all well cooked. all in all the newer Raintree hotel on st mary's road is much better, but the rooms and bathrooms there are much smaller. i hope once they finish renovating this hotel will get its act together.

Room arrangements were pretty good all were settled in their alloted rooms without hassle , morning breakfast served to them was good in taste majority of the staff appreciated . Reception people are so pollite and understood their urgent needs in the rushing time... surely refer to other people in my circle...

Our first time at this hotel. This place is a stone throw distance from Pondy Bazaar. We stayed for 2 nights and our experience has been wonderful. We did not use the breakfast option as we chose to explore the restaurants in Pondy bazaar. A few days Before arrival, Ms. Kumari from reservations followed up to see what time we would be arriving and if we needed a car service to pick us up from the airport. The hotel staff - especially ***i (bell staff) And Jaykanth (front office) were very courteous and helpful. We arrived earlier in the morning (much before the checkin time) but the staff were eager to allot us the rooms as and when people checked out and they were cleaned and prepared for occupancy. Location is unbeatable. The price was reasonable, rooms were clean. The housekeeping did a good job of cleaning the room and replacing toiletry items and fresh towels. They have a refrigerator and coffee/tea in the room. The air conditioning was good. We asked for an iron box and they were quick to provide one for us. The beds were comfortable and we got a good night rest. Despite the proximity to a busy business area, the hotel is quiet and well maintained. Overall, good choice for us. Will definitely come back if we need to be in this part of Chennai. Can improve - In our room, we felt the hot water (in the bathroom) could have been a little more hot.
Golden Fruits Business Suites

We took a suite and expected basic service. While the only positive is rooms are big clean and spacious. Coming to service it’s terrible. I forgot to pack our dental kit and in the at 6:00 am morning i called reception to help us they promptly declined saying the service will be provided only by 7:30am i was left wondering what to do as I had plans to start day by 8:30 The creamer in the pantry had exhausted and I requested them for coffee and this was also turned down say room service starts only by 8:30 On day 2 having had the previous experience from day 1 I requested dental kit in the night after our return they promptly declined saying house keeping not available Breakfast menu for both days were same. Overall pathetic service mindset. If you plan to stay and have early morning meetings planned certainly not the place to stay with the kind of service they provide

The rooms are clean and the hotel is well maintained. The bathroom is a decent size and the hotel ***ager and front staff accomodated our request for an extra bed as required. They also provided key local information as the main reason for our stay was for shopping at T Nagar. The main shopping areas are a very short distance auto-rickshaw ride or a 15 min walk. The hotel is surrounded by plenty of places to eat and shop, which is extremely convenient. One more thing to note is that it's not in the buzzling centre of the shopping road so you will still get some peace and quiet when going to sleep or relaxing. Overall, a great location and great hotel alike.
