Beautiful Castle lovely ambience and receptionist friendly on check in.I found the room a bit faded and bathroom very dated and shabby.Breakfast was fabulous and staff exceptional.Spa treatment again bit shabby steam room out of order and some of the jets not working.The girl I booked the treatment with was friendly but sorry to say the staff on following day was not.Found her a bit rude and no tea or sorbet following our bath.Pity some staff let place down

Attended my nephews wedding here last weekend. What an amazing venue and the staff, hotel and food were top class. Hotel gas so many different rooms and places to relax. Spa area is so relaxing with beautiful lighting. Excellent venue for a wedding or a relaxing getaway. Can’t wait to go back here again .

Lovely night away on the spa, dinner and B&B package. Lovely grounds, lovely hotel including bar and restaurant. Staff were great too. A facial in the spa was great. Dinner was okay, I’m a proper foodie so 4/5 for me, one of the dishes just had no flavour, and the banoffee dessert was a bit frozen. Great Guinness and cocktails had. Breakfast was great too. Overall a great night away, could’ve been perfect if the food at dinner was turned up a notch.

We stayed at Kilronan Castle for one night for my birthday. The hotel is fab and staff are very friendly. We started off in the spa as our room wasn’t ready on arrival, which was fine with us. The Spa is amazing. Soo relaxing and the treatments were excellent. We didn’t want to leave the thermal area, as it was so relaxed. Food - we had casual dining, and the dinner was ok. However, room service breakfast the next morning was very disappointing. Porridge was lovely but the full Irish left a lot to be desired. Tasted like it had been sitting around for awhile. Would definitely return again, but would hope there would be an improvement on the food

We returned here again to once again receive the great experience that we had previously. When we checked in our room heating was not working correctly we brought this to the attention of the staff who tried to fix it but to no avail. Without hesitation we were moved to a different room where all was excellent. This shows how Customer focused they are. We enjoyed our stay friendliness of staff,wonderful surroundings,good food,a great Spa & Leisure Facilities. We will return again.

How I wanted to love this place, but they advertise AC on their website when they don’t have in any of the rooms, and have not had it for weeks. I wish I would have searched the TA reviews for Air Conditioning and seen all of the problems this hotel has had in that area. It’s really a challenge because there is no cross ventilation in the rooms so even opening the windows doesn’t do much. They brought us a fan and offered to move us to a room with bigger windows but that doesn’t solve the problem because you can’t get a cross breeze. Because of a health condition I am vigilant about staying in places with A/C, so if others are out there with similar issues I’m recommending checking reviews. How I wish we could just trust the proprietors to be upfront with what they offer. I’m sure it takes under a minute to update the TA amenities page. They could have also sent me an email letting me know and I could have rebooked another place. Otherwise it’s a beautiful place.

This is a wonderful treat. The staff are outstanding & every little detail is catered to. I can highly recommend this establishment & we will be back. The food in the Douglas Hyde Restaurant is absolutely delicious with exceptional service wonderful experience

Just back from an overnight break with my sister, and from the minute we walked through the door until we left, we were made to feel extremely welcome. All of the staff were professional, helpful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a late lunch when we arrived and dinner later, the food was fantastic, and both food and drinks were very well priced. The grounds are fabulous to walk around with beautiful scenery. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Let me start off by saying that there was so much that I wanted to love about this hotel. The grounds and common areas are simply beautiful but that’s where it stops. We booked the Turlough O’Carolyn bridal suite and judging by the pictures and reviews, I was really excited for my stay there. There’s a wall of large windows that look out over the grounds and the lake and probably has the best view from anywhere in the hotel. When we walked into the suite my first impression was, “this is beautiful & grand!” That was until I looked down at the floor - brown shag carpeting that is filthy dirty and it wasn’t just a spot or two here and there it is all over the carpet. This was a big red flag. From holes in the walls to dirty and broken furnishings (the wardrobe doors wouldn’t even close) and ratty bedding this “suite” had it all. Three of the four nights we stayed we had fresh towels but that was it. Our room was only partially made up on one of the four nights we stayed and on the fourth night it wasn’t attended to at all. We called the front desk and they mentioned we must have left on the do not disturb light. We had turned it off as we had every morning as we left for the day but it got to be a “he said, she said.” The night manager who is actually the food and beverage manager came up to see us and I took the opportunity to point out the room “features” that kept us from being able to enjoy our stay there. After a lively discussion in which he took notes and photos he offered to comp us with a bottle of wine and nothing more. We refused it, we just really wanted fresh towels and for him to leave the room. The room was so gross that we would stay out all day just so we wouldn’t have to spend any time there. Such a shame as this was a special occasion for us - I can’t even imagine putting a bride in this room. I love the charm of an older hotel, the ambiance and history but it must be maintained. We were told that they are in the process of renovation but this room was so bad and had been let go for so long, they should not have booked it until all the renovations were done. I did not book through a third party but rather directly through them, they got my money. The morning of check out came and the young lady at the desk asked me if everything was alright, she was unaware of our discussion with the night manager who told us he would leave notes for the morning team. I mentioned that things were NOT ok and that we spoke the night before with the manager on duty. She asked me if everything got resolved and I told her no, she then got the attending manager who had no clue of what was going on and we had another whole discussion. He apologized and mentioned that they are in the process of renovation - wonderful, but how does that help me? I paid full price to stay in a room that was on par with a one star hotel. He acknowledged the issues and took $200 off my bill. I felt it was an effort but given our experience it should have been more.
