We stayed here on the final leg of our journey around South Africa. Our room was one of the older types available on the property, it was spacious with a good sized bathroom albeit a bit creaky in parts! very comfortable beds and quiet at night. There is a spa in the hotel although it only has a very small outside pool which was a bit disappointing, the spa treatments were excellent some of the best we've had in Africa. The breakfast was good and could be had inside or outside on the terrace, we ate in the main restaurant one night and the food was very good and an exceptional wine list as expected. There is a also a more casual restaurant on the grounds which was very nice as well, tapas style food but worth a visit. We played golf a few times and the course was in very good condition, green fees, buggy, club hire all very reasonable compared to european prices although we did go for a caddy the first day which in hindsight was an issue as he was quite surly and short so we didn't bother the other times we played. There is also a very nice bar/restaurant in the golf club where we ate a few times. I was surprised that there was nowhere to sit and have a drink at night apart from the restaurants. There is also a few restaurants/bars immediately outside of the electric fence/gates which the hotel offered us a shuttle to which was nice. All of the staff were super nice and friendly and exceptionally helpful making recommendations etc. A fab place to stay for spa and golf albeit with a tiny swimming pool.

Lovely stay at Newlands Peak Aparthotel. Quiet and clean location. The apartment itself is very modern and has everything you need. Everything looked brand new! We had a 10 p.m. arrival, so booked our first night's stay here, and we are so glad we did. It is very close to the airport, and even closer to our following morning's car rental agency. We were also glad we took the hotel's advice and booked a driver to take us the short distance late at night -- only ZAR 130, safe and efficient. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, scrupulously clean, cozy room, comfy bed. Big shower stall. There is no lift/elevator, so the porter certainly earned his tip for carying our luggage up the stairs! And best of all was the buffet breakfast -- possibly the best buffet scrambled eggs ever, tasty sausages, hot porridge/outmeal, salad with pumpkin seeds and pine nuts; choice of cereals, fresh fruit salad, yoghurt; plus toast, croissants, pastries, tea, coffee.

Having travelled extensively and stayed in numerous hotels worldwide, I can confidently state that my recent experience was the worst ever. Despite seeing several negative reviews about their service, I thought they were just occasional lapses. However, I soon discovered that the hotel had a persistent service problem. I had a problem with my reservation and spent two days trying to resolve it, but no one cared. To make matters worse, I was charged ten times the amount I had originally paid for the same room (i.e., $300 instead of $30) without any reasonable explanation. When I questioned this, the staff merely shrugged it off, citing fluctuating prices as the reason. The lady in charge of reservations was extremely rude and disrespectful throughout the ordeal. In addition to the issues with my reservation and the exorbitant charges, the air conditioner was not working properly and made a lot of noise. Furthermore, the fridge in my room made a huge noise, which disturbed my sleep at 2 am (I recorded a video as proof). Moreover, the noise levels in the dormitory were unacceptable all the night! making it impossible to get a good night's sleep. In short, I urge anyone considering staying at this hotel to think twice and look for other options.
