We made a reservation here off the strength of the hotel's Lonely Planet write-up, and wow are we glad that we did. We have a family of four, with two young children, and the three-room apartment was perfect for our needs -- and at a very affordable price. The views from the room were truly spectacular -- you can't get much closer to the lake unless you're swimming in it. Maria (the manager) was so helpful throughout our stay and our girls already miss her. Breakfast was also wonderful. We're also really glad we stayed in the small town of Brunnen versus the more urban environment of Luzern. We definitely hope to be back sometime soon!

We are on day 5 of our six night stay and have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We booked a family apartment in the older hotel Schmid and we are very happy with the accommodation. We have two bedrooms (a double & a twin) with plenty of wardrobe space, a living/dining room with balcony, bathroom with bath & shower over and kitchen (which is an additional cost). The staff were very friendly and helpful, providing my coeliac daughter with gluten free cereal and rolls at breakfast. The breakfasts carried a good selection of breads, pastries and cakes, fruit juices, eggs, meats and cheeses, yogurts, fruit, cereals, hot & cold drinks. The hotel has no air conditioning, but we found that our rooms remained quite cool, even though the temperatures were in the 30’s outside and we had fans in the rooms. As there are restaurants around the hotel, it can be quite noisy in the early evenings, but the windows are well sound proofed & cut out nearly all noise once closed. The hotel is well situated for the boat (on the other side of the road) buses & trains (5-10 mins walk), shops and restaurants. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone considering a stay in Brunnen.

We stayed just one night. Rooms OK, nice lake view, OK breakfast - owner or boss seems too controling and not easy going. Parking is a few minutes walk. Overall will do for a quick overnight but not recomemnded for longer stays.

We wanted to spend 4 days as a first short break with our 1.5 year old daughter on Lake Lucerne. At breakfast there was another family at the table next to us. Our daughter has been back and forth a few times to the other child. The lady at the buffet said it wasn't a playground here. Furthermore, because of August 1st, there was a free night with a party in front of the hotel. We didn't know this, and since it was warm and we had the room facing the street, we decided to leave one night earlier with our daughter. So that she can sleep at night. The hotel did not accommodate us in terms of price and the lady at the reception said that we had to check out by 11 a.m. the next day. This although we were still paying in full for the day and night had to, a bit cheeky. The hotel is in a beautiful location and is definitely a great choice for couples or cyclists. As a family, I would not visit again, nor would I recommend it.

We were only able to book one night, but it was all the nicer. The location, the clean rooms, the view from the window, the friendly staff and the delicious breakfast. Everything perfect!! The nice lady with Croatian roots was also very funny.. ;-)

We stayed twice at Hotel Schmid. Room with balcony and bathroom very clean, beds comfortable, balcony ideal - we saw the 1st August fireworks up close - it was fantastic, as was the tour of the illuminated steamships on Lake Uri which was very impressive. The staff was again very friendly, attentive and very helpful! The parking fee for the car in the car park is a modest CHF 25 per week.

Top location with a beautiful view, very nice courteous team, comfortable rooms - all in all a nice hotel for a great stay! A drink on your own balcony is simply wonderful. We'd love to come back :-)

Das Hotel liegt direkt am See und trotzdem eigentlich mitten im Zentrum. Es ist Umgebung von mehreren ansprechenden Lokalen. Das Hotelpersonal war wirklich sehr freundlich und entgegenkommend. Dadurch das ich direkt beim Hotel angerufen habe konnte mir die Rezeptionistin das perfekte Zimmer anbieten. Das Frühstückbuffet ist nach nachfragen schon ab 6:30 Uhr geöffnet, und ist sehr umfangreich. Ich komme ganz sicher wieder wenn ich in der Umgebung zu tun habe.
