Pre-booked room via a booking agency, meant sadly I got a single bed small room, in the lower numbered rooms. The service here was excellent, and the food was even better. Front of house was very pleasant. I really enjoyed the English breakfast, Shasuka, plus the Pancakes, bacon and Ice cream was a real treat for breakfast too.

This is a charming hotel and wished I had stayed here before. The hotel, food and drink are reasonably priced and the food and service are the best I have ever had, don't drive past this place, go in there and check yourself, you will not be disappointed by anything..

I visited the Stratton Hose hotel for 2 nights accommodation staying in a single bed room. I am a very familiar with Biggleswade and Stratton House has always had a good reputation. However something has changed! On arrival I was allocated a ground floor room and the staff member checking me in was pleasant. The hallway leading to the rooms gave me a good idea that the accommodation was not going to be great. The hallway carpet is old, the doors to the rooms are very tired looking and in general the whole area needs a total makeover. As suspected on entering room 5 the carpet again was grubby, cobwebs in the corners of the room, heavy dust on the wall lights and marked walls with dirty finger mark all over the place. The single bed is a very cheap divan with an even cheaper bright blue budget mattress. Just a thin sheet on top of the mattress. As I pulled the duvet back a long black hair and old blood stains revealed themselves to me. I went to the reception, they apologised and gave me room 29. This time on the top floor. The stairs, landings and corridors on the way to the room were again very tired looking and grubby. Room 29 was no better. Again dirty walls with marks all over them, a filthy stained blind (see image) and it appeared the carpet had not been hoovered for a long time. Due to how dirty the carpet was I had to keep my shoes on throughout my stay. Picture on the wall was cracked and damaged, large cracks in the walls, paint peeling off the walls in the bathroom and a rusty/dirty shower hose. In general the room was awful and no better at all than the first room. If I had been with my family we would have left the hotel immediately. Unfortunately due to a lack of any other accommodation in Biggleswade I had to remain where I was and put up with it. I had a terrible nights sleep as the mattress was so cheap. I had a full English breakfast in the hotel restaurant which was nice and the lady serving breakfast was friendly and provided a very good service. I spoke to some other guests at breakfast who commented they had stayed in cleaner and nicer hostels. I would not stay he again. Fine for a bite to eat and drink but do not use the accommodation. The whole hotel needs to be renovated.

Booked for Christmas Day night. Rang the evening before to confirm booking and check in, told any time after 3pm. Range again at 5.45 on Christmas Day to again check latest check in time, to be told they were on the point of leaving. Apparently they had a change of plan on the day! Shame they didn’t see fit to inform us. Rushed to hotel to check in. The room, well. Old and tired. Small old rickety bed, that rocked and creaked every time you moved. Folded pillow in 4 to get any depth. Very little sleep all night. Shower not working, the shower not working was mentioned in a previous review, they obviously have no intention of repairing it, so beware. Breakfast was good. Would I stay here again? Never, probably the worst place I have stayed in. They need to take note of the poor reviews, the rooms are not fit for purpose.

Probably the worst hotel experience I have ever had, at least equal to staying at the Crystal Palace Travelodge!!! On arrival we found the room was very basic, 1 bed (felt like a 4ft rather than a full double), 1 single wardrobe, a small table and a shelf for the coffee making facilities. No bedside tables or drawer unit. Carpet was grubby, the blinds broken, the TV did not work and took staff 2 attempts to find one that did. The bathroom was very small, the shower dripped all night, the door did not close fully and the lock didn't work. The shower cubicle was tatty, had black mould at the bottom and limescale on the door. We were woken up at 7.15am by the noise of what we think was the kitchen extractor kicking in, this was directly outside our window and incredibly loud. Knowing we were not going to sleep any more we decided to make a cup of coffee only to find the kettle did not work!!! Not sure if we dare risk having breakfast!!! On the plus side the bedlinen was clean and there were sufficient towels for the bathroom. Will not be staying here again.

Lovely building, comfortable, well furnished public areas, good breakfast - and then there's the bedrooms! The furniture matched and looked reasonably new. Both rooms booked overlooked the side entrance and smoking area of the hotel. We literally had people at all hours walking past our rooms. Our window was filthy, mouldy and only opened a fraction. There was a fossilised large insect attached to our vertical blind - which didn't close properly due to the twisted slat. The kettle didn't fit under the sink so had to scoop water into it. We has 5 hangers between us. Our small double bed creaked all night. The duvet was so small we had to turn it sideways to get an overhang so our feet weren't uncovered. No mattress or pillow protectors. The pillows were practically flat. Only one side lamp. The hairdryer looked at least 20 years old. No room service. And then there's the bathroom!! No shelves or rails and nowhere to stand our toiletries. Broken waste bin. Dirty, yellowed toilet seat hinges, filthy light pull cord, mis-matched taps, dirty sink drain, liquid soap holder badly corroded, black mouldy ceiling, damaged shower flexi hose, tiny shower head, poor water pressure, extremely corroded shower gel holder, no shower gel, shower screen rubber sealer was a disgusting shade of brown/pink.

Stayed for 4 nights for work purpose. The bar area and restaurant are very inviting well furnished. The breakfast was very good and the lady serving was excellent and came round topping up tea and coffee. I was also able to request slight amendments to the menu items without any fuss . No juices for breakfast though this was at additional cost. No pastries or yoghurt. The evening meal options were limited and from my experience over priced for what they were . The hotel rooms were very outdated and in need to refurbishment. My room was next to a very large extractor unit for the kitchen which started up around 6am . The wardrobe has no hangers and it would appear none of the rooms had them . The bed was 2 singles pushed together but with 2 single mattresses so there was a gap in the middle and the mattresses appeared to be different thickness making bed not level. Pillows were so thin needed 4. The shower worked but pressure wasn’t very good and difficult to get temperature right . It was either scalding or cold. There were dubious marks on the window sill that looked like crime scene fingerprints . The sealant around the bath needed replacing with black mild behind the taps . The corridor smelt of stale smoke and fish.
