We treated ourselves to a last minute festive “Rafternoon” tea today, and I’m so glad we chose to try it here! Both the savoury and sweet courses (and unlimited tea/coffee) were delicious, and presented beautifully, and it’s clear that the team at Rafters care about the fine details-our afternoon tea menu even had our surname and the date printed on it, which was a really nice touch! The atmosphere was relaxed, whilst still felt special, and the staff were incredibly friendly and couldn’t have been more attentive. Having been to a fair few afternoon teas before, this one definitely stood out! Although it’s a higher end afternoon tea, it was really good value for money given the standard of the food/service, and we’ll definitely be back!

Little treat of a night away, we could not have chosen a better place. As soon as we walked through the door, we were greeted like a friend, bags carried and taken to our room. I think the lady’s name was Sue, but whatever, she was brilliant: funny, charming, so helpful. We had a garden room, with doors out on to a private patio with loungers and table and chairs , just perfect on our sunny day. Nice tea and coffee selection, they brought us more tea as we do drink a lot of tea! The room wasn’t flash, but clean and comfy, nice bathroom with spa products. We had the a la cart dinner, which was just gorgeous, nice little nibbles in the bar first, then scrummy bread and their special butter, before the 3 course dinner. The water is from a local producer that we were aware of from our hiking, Cragg Inn. The bed was comfy, we couldn’t hear the A6 traffic unless the window was open. The breakfast is served as a 3 course meal. We just didn’t do it justice after dinner . Proper fresh juice, yogurt ,muesli and fruit, toast and croissants, then a huge cooked Derbyshire breakfast. But they would provide what ever you wanted, we heard people ordering porridge . A charming server went out of her way to make sure a young mum who didn’t make it down, had everything she wanted taken to her. This hotel is in a perfect location in the Peak District. Food is amazing. But, it’s the staff that make it. You can tell they all get on together, and really seem to enjoy their job. They seemed to be able to sort everything with a smile. Can’t wait to go back.

We had a family weekend to celebrate our mothers 89th birthday, what a treat. All the way through the booking, discussing our needs and service whilst there was impeccable. All the staff where extremely polite and helpful, the rooms adequate to our needs and cosy and meals in the restaurant, Rafters, first class. One guest was Coeliac and the gluten free options and service to cater for this was discrete and without fault. The hotel is in a beautiful village location right next to the river Wye and with walks from the doorstep, the walk along the river to Bakewell is a leisurely 45 minutes. Whilst it is difficult to pick any one member of staff out for praise is extremely difficult, what I would say is that from a hotel communication perspective, Sarah was top of her game ! Highly recommend.

Very friendly comfortable hotel. We had the taster menu for dinner which was excellent, particularly with the wine pairing. Room very clean and tidy, very comfortable bed and pillows. Novel (and welcome) to have a built in toothbrush charger in the bathroom. Unfortunately the drench shower was more of a dribble shower but didn’t detract from the overall experience.

Comforting night away following the the sad passing of my Husband. So peaceful listening to the sound of the water in the garden area. Excellent service from start to finish, rooms of a high standard, everything for the guest staying thought of. Wonderful breakfast friendly Staff. Delicious mini Bakewell tarts served complimentary with our coffee, so thoughtful. I plan to bring our little dog next time and stay in a garden room.

Excellent stay in a luxury hotel in a beautiful location. Fantastic breakfast choice, serving 3 course and vegetarian options. Would not hesitate to stay again. There was a slight issue with missing items as we had booked last minute, however once staff informed this was dealt with right away :)

This establishment is less than an hours drive away so it’s an easy place to get to. The rooms are compact but very clean as is the bathroom. Lovely fluffy towels are on offer. The hotel staff are very friendly, helpful and professional in equal measure. There’s a nice bar area to sit in. All in all a very pleasant experience.

My wife and I have just spent a post Christmas night away and chose this establishment. The bedroom was spacious and extremely clean. There were plenty of toiletries available as well as nice fluffy towels. The evening meal started with hors d’oeuvres in the bar and very tasty they were. We both had the fillet steak ( cooked perfectly) followed by chefs take on Bakewell tart. Breakfast is a real highlight which is run by Heather and John and as well as a excellent breakfast their professional and approachable attitude make it run like clockwork. Our thanks to all the staff for a lovely stay we will see you again soon.
