The El Mouradi Hotel in Port El Kantoui has been a part of my life since I was 10 years old back in 1994 when my parents first took me there. Fast forward 30 years ahead to 2024, and the once 10 year old boy fast approaching to be a 40 year old man, I’m now doing what my parents did by taking my two children to the place that we fell in love with. Within the 30 years of our first visit, I have stayed there on 15 separate occasions. Upwards of 200 days of my life in total! The hotel hasn’t changed one bit. The floors are the same. The carpets in the bedrooms are the same. The chairs and tables are the same. Even some of the staff are still there after 30 years! Yes it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, and yes there are better quality hotels for the same money. But one thing for sure, once you look past the faults of the hotel (which there are, and always have had), you will eventually be immersed into a place that feels like a home away from home. If you’re expecting a full English breakfast every morning, forget it. It’s not happening. You’re in Tunisia, not England. If a big breakfast is your morning staple. Go elsewhere! I’ve seen complaints about the English not being catered for in the restaurant. What do you expect? A menu catered to every nationality of the guests who stay there? The food is awesome. There’s a huge variety to choose from, whether hot or cold, and there’s no repetition of food day after day. Any member of staff that you meet will do literally anything to help you and make you feel like you’re a VIP guest. Tunisia is a very poor country. The staff that are looking after you earn less than £400 a month. Anything less than 10 out of 10 customer service isn’t what they do! In all of my life, I have never seen the big boss of a company or establishment out on the floor with their employees every day, sweeping the paths, emptying the bins, and engaging with the guests. But at El Mouradi Port El Kantoui, it’s an everyday occurrence. From the bottom to the top, the hotel is cared for by all members of staff. If you don’t think that your sleeping accommodation is up to the high standard that you are expecting, just pause for a moment and remember that your room is basically only used for washing and sleeping in. 90% of your time is spent outside of your room. The grounds surrounding the hotel are immaculately kept and well maintained. You will rarely see any rubbish in the hotel complex. The entertainment team are simply an extension of your family. They will do everything possible to make your stay enjoyable and one to remember. They are great with the children, and do everything they can to engage with each and every child staying at the hotel. From the concierge to the reception staff, from the bar staff to the restaurant staff, from the cleaners to the pool attendants, you’re treated as someone special. If you visit the hotel and you don’t like it, it’s one to cross off the list to not visit again. If you stay at th
