Hill Safari - Tea Estate Villa
4.4/510 Reviews
About 10 KM to Horton Plains NP, exceptionally lovely scenery. Proximity to the NP is marred by the abysmal road conditions, driving on which can be bone crushing- even though this is not the fault of the owner. The manager and the staff are excellent, they try to serve you with full attention and to the best of available resources. Description on the website is accurate and the owner writes promptly and clearly without fanfare or lies. Food is excellent, although they tend to limit the portions- say one small piece of chicken per dinner plate!! Even so, food is excellent and they make what you order. Rooms are well appointed. Bathrooms are not very clean. Again, this is not due to lack of staff or resources but carelessness, which is a shame. Rooms are otherwise well appointed. Overall though one should expect more for the price you pay for the room and board. By local standards this place is expensive. Given the poor road condition, proximity to the park is not that meaningful and staying in other places may be better. Make sure that you take cash, because CC don't work neither here and certainly not at the main gate of the Horton Plains NP which attracts many tourists but has no facilities for the money you pay as a foreigner, which is also a shame for a country struggling with financial hardships.
98 Acres Resort & Spa

Overpriced! 1. No air conditioning, the room is very humid, the bed is cold and wet 2. Integrity hotel construction knocks at the door of the room early in the morning 3. The room is very not soundproof. The hotel and the scenic spot share the road from reception to the room. There is also a traffic jam. Various tuk tuk passing outside the room. It is the horn and the engine roar. Very noisy. 4. No service at all except check-in and check-out
Dream Cliff Mountain Resort

We (couple + 7 year old son) were at Dream Cliff in December, ushered in Christmas. When we look back today at our 10 day trip, the views from this resort is what's etched most into our minds - and that's priceless. The food and service is outstanding - promptness of the room service, the freshness of the menu, the courtesy of the dining staff - we were thoroughly pampered. At first, we were slightly taken aback that there was no air conditioning in the rooms - however, 15 minutes into the stay, and one realizes that it's not required at all. Any room for improvement - yes, mostly room related - the room decor could be slightly less 'tacky', bathroom slippers would help, pillows are slightly hard, wifi is a bit patchy (a blessing maybe!), geyser can be hotter at times, no closed wardrobes, noises from the bathroom get amplified due to the dome design etc. However, all said and done, we would still stay here unquestionably whenever we're in SL next. The positives overwhelmingly overwhelm the few improvement areas.

Akway Resort and Spa

My second visit to this hotel – for a more information please see my previous TA review Like all hotels in Sri Lanka guest numbers are down due to the ongoing security situation. Only myself and 4 others staying on this occasion This time I was allocated a smaller (but more than adequate) room in the main block rather than the annex. The large balcony with a south westerly aspect provided spectacular views of mountains with clouds folding in the valleys and in the distance Udawelawa National Park. The open air corridor leading to the room fringed by an orchid rock garden Dinner was only available from an a la carte menu involving a 45 minute wait. Nice to know that the vegetables and herbs are sourced from the hotel garden. The property still has no liquor licence. I brought my own wine and so was well prepared! Breakfast was average and not the same quality as my earlier visit Value for Money – Rates at the time of my visit were similar to my first visit and if guest numbers improve are likely to rise in 2020 X Factor – Despite a downturn in guest numbers standards are being maintained .A spectacular quiet remote location with panoramic views and a private natural waterfall in the grounds make this a very special place
The Cubes Ella
4.6/514 Reviews
Based around the types of accomadation in Ella this small 4 roomed boutique hotel offered a fabulous view and excellent attentive service . A special call out to the manager for all his support and help with tips and trips. On this he recommended a tuk tuk driver to help organise your sightseeing who we wholly recommend who is professional and reasonably priced. Given the terrain it is too far to walk to the centre, easily accessible via tuk tuk. Food is amazing and would recommend the chicken stew.
