4.0The 1992-year-old ship has a weathered feel and performs admirably overall: the rooms are well-designed (I was lucky enough to get a sea-view room, and the sofa area was a great spot to enjoy the view 😉); the ship has daily updated newspapers with comprehensive information, and there are plenty of entertainment options, with the evening magic and circus shows exceeding expectations; the food is plentiful and of excellent quality, and apart from the final Captain's Dinner, the seafood feast at the Xiafei Road BBQ restaurant the night before was delicious (the spicy crayfish and teriyaki pomfret were particularly memorable, haha); the Japanese buffet after the shore excursion was also very well-prepared, with teriyaki chicken cutlets, fried chicken nuggets, salmon fried rice, and fried udon. It's also very comfortable to eat at the three restaurants in rotation. The Western-style semi-buffet at the Dynasty Western Restaurant is quite popular and usually requires queuing, while the Atlantic and Red House restaurants are faster. The Chinese breakfast and late-night snacks are also quite good. The pool on the 9th floor was also great; in winter, the temperature was set very high, making swimming feel like soaking in a hot spring 😄. The weather was good for both shore excursions and sea cruises, the journey was smooth, and the sea views were stunning. This cruise on SuperStar Gemini left me with wonderful memories. Thank you! 🌹⛴️⚓

4.0This cruise ship is quite old, having undergone renovations ten years ago, and is in excellent condition in all aspects. However, the onboard internet equipment is outdated; even with payment, the speed is extremely poor. Hopefully, this can be improved soon. The captain and crew are all very dedicated. The various activities arranged are plentiful.

2.0Service: 1. Most of the Chinese staff were reluctant to smile. 2. There were three instances of the same problem: once the event was moved an hour early, once it was canceled outright, and another time during a lotus lantern activity, 15 people, adults and children alike, were crammed onto a small table, leaving the next group completely unattended with no interaction. The entertainment department staff couldn't even finish stacking lanterns. 3. Event times were repeatedly changed arbitrarily without notification. When this was reported to the front desk, they didn't apologize, only saying they hadn't received any change notifications either, and that they would inform the entertainment department, after which there was no further communication. Food: Limited variety, but the taste was acceptable. The dining chairs were very dirty. Accommodation: 1. Room cards demagnetized easily; I had to go to the front desk to have them remagnetized three times in six days. 2. The air conditioner was very loud and whirred incessantly, day and night. When the wind picked up at sea, the furniture would creak and groan. 3. The TV remote in the room was out of batteries. Entertainment: Good: 1. The two young ladies at the childcare center in the entertainment department were very gentle and considerate. 2. The foreign female magician team was very hardworking and dedicated, and the overall performance was of a high standard. Negative aspects: 1. The Chinese male employee in the entertainment department was poorly led in dancing; he had a protruding belly, his movements were clumsy, he rarely interacted with the guests, and he was even stingy with his smiles. His ability to engage and interact with the guests during games was also mediocre. 2. The band at the event, the Chinese members sang very poorly, not even as well as a skilled average singer.

Feb 5, 2020Dear Guest, the Gemini is a ship that has been operating for a while, and there may be some shortcomings in its facilities. Regarding your question about the staff smiling less and having room for improvement in their attitude, we sincerely apologize and have also relayed this feedback to the cruise line. We also thank you for your positive feedback on the onboard entertainment and tour leader service, and we look forward to your next cruise trip being even more satisfying!

5.0The cruise service was good, the food was decent and not greasy, the onboard entertainment was excellent and created a great atmosphere, and the accommodations were okay. The only downside was that there was no one to organize the disembarkation process, and some people cut in line. Otherwise, everything was fine.

4.0Yes, we were on a cruise ship that departed on January 24, 2020. It was very likely the last cruise before the government issued a document suspending all group tours—yes, the last cruise ship in the entire country! Because the government issued the document right after we departed. The ship, initially carrying 1700 people, only had a little over 1000 passengers board. Perhaps some people cancelled their tickets due to the pandemic. Before boarding, temperature checks were added. Once on board, none of the passengers seemed panicked; they ate and shopped as usual. Some people weren't even wearing masks. My family of three wore masks except when entering our cabin. Upon arrival in Japan, temperature checks were conducted again. The Japanese just wore masks; they didn't dress up excessively. Masks were sold at tourist attractions and duty-free shops in Japan. We were very fortunate to have bought over a hundred masks there, as we later learned that masks were very difficult to find in my hometown of Shijiazhuang. This was my fourth cruise trip, and overall, apart from wearing masks, it was no different from previous cruises. Next, let's talk about the SuperStar Gemini cruise ship. The shows were good, and the quality was quite high. I've previously cruised on SkySea New Century and Royal Caribbean, and overall, SuperStar Gemini isn't as good as SkySea New Century, which is in a similar price range, and it's nowhere near as good as Royal Caribbean. What bothered me most was the dining. SkySea and Royal Caribbean only had no meals in the latter half of the night; you could eat and drink as you pleased at other times. SuperStar Gemini is different. It has four meals a day: breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a late-night snack. There are no meals at other times. Moreover, the buffet selection was limited, and there was a phenomenon of the same food in different restaurants, making me suspect that there was only one kitchen on the entire ship. In short, I was very dissatisfied with the food. Another unsatisfactory aspect was the entertainment. The entertainment activities were nothing more than games, crafts, and dance classes, and I participated in almost every one of them. One activity was listed on the Star Cruises website as being held in the tea house, but no staff ever came to organize it. The games were also uninteresting. What I hate most is dance class. I've attended several dance classes, and the teacher is a fat man who's the worst dancer in the entire entertainment department. The dancing looks like gymnastics, and he keeps forgetting the moves himself while teaching! I'm so annoyed! Overall, the evening performance was good, but I wasn't satisfied with anything else.

4.0Cruise ship meals should be provided 24 hours a day. Water activities are not allowed in winter. There should be plenty of activities for children.

2.0Compared to large cruise ships, fewer entertainment options are acceptable, but some are simply not offered at all. For example, listening to music after dinner is not a high expectation for a cruise ship, and large cruise ships usually offer that, but yours only has it half an hour before dinner. The movies and other entertainment options are also lacking. I hope you can make the program more comprehensive in the future.

Feb 5, 2020Dear Guest, we apologize that your expectations were not met. We will provide feedback to the ship management and actively urge the cruise company to make corrections. I have also had the privilege of being a passenger on the Gulangyu cruise ship. In my years of sailing experience, the Gulangyu is one of the best-localized ships. The onboard programs ensure that most Chinese people can understand, appreciate, and immerse themselves in the experience. The various performances, such as magic shows, the Silk Road show, the Gulangyu Night Concert, and crosstalk performances, created a vibrant atmosphere that I rarely experience. The dances and games after the performances also left a deep impression on me. Of course, as operational standards continue to improve, the onboard activities and performances may undergo some adjustments. You can refer to the onboard daily newspaper to plan your itinerary. We suggest you consider the upcoming MSC Bellissima, the European flagship that will arrive in China in June. The cruise company and Cirque du Soleil have prepared a wonderful program that we hope will impress you. We look forward to your next cruise trip. Happy Chinese New Year!

3.0The cruise ship's cabin service was poor. Waste left by previous guests wasn't cleaned up properly. Towels and toiletries weren't provided proactively upon entering the cabin; we had to call and ask. The two bottles of drinking water provided daily were also not offered. The next day, after we returned to our cabin ashore, they cleaned it briefly and took the towels away, but they weren't provided again; we had to ask for them again. The selection of food and drinks was also too limited.

Jan 15, 2020Dear Ctrip Cruise Guest, thank you for booking your cruise trip through Ctrip Cruise! We apologize that the service awareness of our ship's staff was somewhat lacking. We will communicate this to the cruise company and strengthen their service training. Although we provide training for our tour leaders and guides, there may still be areas where they cannot fully meet your expectations. Thank you for your feedback. We will enhance training and education to ensure you receive better service on your future cruise journeys.
You need a passport valid for your destinations (typically at least 6 months beyond the voyage – check your boarding info), your cruise boarding pass, and any required visas. Depending on your nationality, extra ID (e.g., residence permit) may be needed. Confirm with embassies and your cruise line before departure.
