One of the city's most popular attractions is Kings Park and Botanic Garden (Kaarta Koomba), a stunning 400-hectare park that’s one of the world’s largest inner-city parks offers breathtaking views of the city skyline and the Swan River. You can meander along the park's many walking trails, picnic areas, and playgrounds - or take a Segway Tour too! Alternatively, simply relax and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings.

Another must-see attraction in Perth is The Perth Mint, which has been producing gold coins and bars since 1899.Take a guided tour of the mint and learn about the history of gold mining in Western Australia, and even watch a live gold pour. The mint also has a gift shop where you can purchase gold coins, engrave your own medallion, and buy other souvenirs.

Adventure-seekers can go on the Optus Stadium tour, experiencing the views of the city from a truly epic point of view. This tour is perfect for sports fans, lovers of architecture and thrill-seekers too. Alternatively, opt to visit The Bell Tower, an 82-metre high marvel that changes colour at night. Head up to the 6th floor and soak in the stunning views of Perth and the Swan River!

For those looking for a romantic night out, you can also check out Elizabeth Quay (Goomup),. Located on the banks of the Swan River, it's home to a variety of restaurants, bars, and shops, as well as several public art installations and a giant Ferris wheel. Take a scenic boat ride with a Swan River Scenic Cruise or simply stroll along the waterfront and take in the stunning views.

Perth is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the entire world - 19 of them, in fact. But which should you visit? With all of them within easy reach of the city, splashes, seagulls and sandcastles are never too far away. While you are there, be sure to experience a cool drink or fresh seafood platter as the sun sinks slowly into the Indian Ocean. Here are our recommendations!

Cottesloe Beach is probably the most iconic beach in Perth. Known for swimming, sunbathing, and surfing, it is home to a range of cafes and restaurants - and boasts the classic 'white sand, blue water' combo.

Alternatively, check out Scarborough Beach located just 14 kilometres north of Perth and is a great spot to relax and enjoy the ocean views. ClNear the city, the aptly-named City Beach is a family-friendly delight, known for its calm waters and soft sand. Swimming, paddle boarding, and kayaking are the order of the day here, and you can take advantage of the BBQ facilities and playgrounds.

Finally, for those of you craving a good sunset - and who doesn't? - Rockingham Beach is well-known for its white sand and spectacular views of the sun going over the horizon. This seaside city is also the perfect destination to get up close with local marine life – sea lions, dolphins and their unofficial mascots, the little penguins. There are sheltered swimming and aquatic recreation places most of the year, and offers breathtaking coastal scenery, marine animal encounters and adventure experiences. Daredevils can even skydive over this beach!

Aside from beaches, there are many other ways to keep the family entertained in Perth. For those of you travelling with children, expect a range of activities to keep everyone entertained.

Caversham Wildlife Park is home to the largest private collection of native fauna in Western Australia - and its highly interactive too. At the Park - approx. a 30-minute drive away from Perth - you can hand-feed kangaroos, meet wombats, and wander through the Reptile House.

If you’re up for a marine adventure, do check out the Aquarium of Western Australia, which is home to over 4,000 animals from the oceans, including sharks, stingrays, and turtles. The aquarium is a great place to learn about marine life and get up close to some of Australia's most fascinating creatures.

Finally, if it's a more thrill seeking experience the family is looking for, check out Adventure World. Located 16 km away from the city, there are over 30 rides for the whole family to experience here.

Avon Valley National Park is home to a stunning array of wildlife - but for the more intrepid adventurer, you can go bushwalking, white-water rafting, canoeing and picnicking and even book hot air balloon flights over the park too. Floating among picturesque valleys at sunrise, floating through clouds and admiring Western Australia from high? Sounds like a wonderful way to spend a morning!

Rottnest Island, located near Perth off the coast of Western Australia, is Perth’s car-free island playground due to its 63 beautiful beaches and unique wildlife. Here you can enjoy a variety of outdoor thrills, including skydiving, snorkelling, cycling, fishing, and surfing. The island is also home to the adorable quokka - if you use any form of social media, you'll be very familiar with adorable, perma-smiling marsupials.

Other popular attractions on Rottnest include the historic lighthouse, the salt lakes, and the incredible World War II tunnels. With its stunning scenery and relaxed atmosphere, Rottnest Island is a must-visit destination for anyone who wants a day trip away from Perth.

Want to feel the wilderness but actually be a short hop away from Perth? John Forrest National Park is a beautiful natural hub located in the Darling Range, just 24 kilometres (13 miles) east of Western Australia's capital. The park is named after Sir John Forrest, the first Premier of Western Australia.

Visiting the park will ensure a range of activities, including hiking, cycling, and (our favourite), picnicking. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including kangaroos, emus, and a wide range of unique bird species. You absolutely have to explore the park's many walking trails, including the popular Eagle's View Walk Trail, which offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

Want to visit a picturesque little Western Australian coastal town? Busselton is known for its pristine beaches, but the town's most iconic landmark is the Busselton Jetty, the longest wooden jetty in the southern hemisphere, stretching 1.8 kilometres into the Indian Ocean. Be sure to book your tour at Busselton Jetty and enjoy various activities such as snorkelling, whale watching, and exploring the nearby Margaret River wine region - speaking of which…

Swan Valley, located just a short drive from Perth, is a popular destination for foodies and wine lovers. The House of Honey is a local favourite, while you can make your own sweet treats at Mondo Nougat. Explore the many wineries, breweries, and distilleries in the area, sampling delicious local wines, beers, and spirits.

The valley is also home to a variety of gourmet food producers, offering everything from artisanal cheeses to handmade chocolates. Other popular activities include hot air balloon rides, horseback riding, and cycling through the scenic countryside.

For those interested in history, there are several museums and historic sites to explore, including the fascinating Aboriginal Heritage Trail. With its beautiful scenery, delicious food, and world-class wine, Swan Valley is a must-visit destination for anyone travelling to Perth.

One of the hubs of the arts and foodie experiences in Western Australia, Fremantle is a fantastic day trip destination from Perth. Known locally as 'Freo', you'll be sure to sample some of the delicious local seafood or Southeast Asian cuisine here, amongst a whole lot more.

A 30-minute drive or 25-minute train ride from Perth, in Freo you can stroll along Fremantle Market, head to the local Fishing Boat Harbour, experience the treasure-strewn WA Shipwrecks Museum, or head to the secluded Bathers Beach.

For a broad range of things to see and do, book a Fabulous Fremantle Self-Guided Audio Tour, or for a truly unique experience, check out the Fremantle Prison - where you can even spend the night!
