Longxing Temple

Longxing Temple was first built in the sixth year of Kaihuang in the Sui Dynasty (586 AD). It was originally named Longzang Temple and was renamed Longxing Temple in the Tang Dynasty. In the Northern Song Dynasty, Emperor Taizu of Song, Zhao Kuangyin, ordered its expansion. During the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, it was finally named Longxing Temple, commonly known as the Big Buddha Temple. It has undergone construction and changes in many dynasties, witnessing China's thousand-year historical development. It is an important physical material for studying ancient Chinese Buddhist culture, architectural evolution, and social development. Architectural Art Value The earliest existing, largest and most complete Northern Song Dynasty architectural complex: Longxing Temple adopts a central axis layout, with well-arranged and magnificent buildings, fully demonstrating the architectural style and planning concepts of the Northern Song Dynasty, and providing a precious sample for future generations to study Northern Song Dynasty architecture. Mani Temple, a unique example of ancient architecture in the world: Mani Temple was built in the fourth year of Huangyou in the Northern Song Dynasty (1052 AD). Its unique cross layout is very rare among existing examples of ancient Chinese architecture. The double-eaved hip roof and the rare "four-sided porch" fully demonstrate the superb aesthetic taste of Song Dynasty craftsmen.
