One of the best coal mining memorials
Very interesting mining disaster memorial. Easy to find. Free parking. Easy walk of about 1/3 mile from car park

As the last review says signage is awful, we too ended up parking on wasteland which was full of dog muck. Realising we were in the were in the wrong place we drove further down and missed the turning...
Disappointed by surroundings
Is there a museum? Visitor centre? Car park? Signage is awful … we parked on a patch of wasteland. Took a picnic but grass was too overgrown to sit. This wonderful statue deserves better.
The Guardian
What a fitting memorial to the men who sadly lost their lives in this mining disaster in June 1960. They will never be forgotten and this statue ensures that

I had the pleasure of visiting this gorgeous attraction! Its very well places and picturesque. Very easy to get too and surrounded by the most picturesque views.
