Deoksugung Palace, where the past and present coexist
📝Korea Travel Notes Part18: Deoksugung Palace📝
🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️
First of all, this Deoksugung Palace is not the one in Hangzhou, but the one in Seoul. It is the last palace of the Joseon Dynasty and the only palace in the five palaces of Seoul that combines Chinese and Western styles. The palace was built in 1592, and what we can see today is basically the rebuilt version around 1900-1910, which has been over a hundred years.

The Western-style stone palace with the fountain lawn square in front of the gate really has the style of a European palace. The east wing is a history museum, and the west wing is a modern art museum. The history museum strictly controls the flow of visitors, and foreigners need to register and queue on site. If the quota is full, you can only queue for the next time slot. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to queue up this time😭.

In addition, Deoksugung Palace also has night tour activities, which look very interesting. Unfortunately, I didn't catch up this time due to time reasons. Next time I have the opportunity to go to Korea, I really want to brush all the night tours of these palaces, each of which looks very unique. In terms of tourism experience, Korea is really awesome.

Visited during Autumn but seems that the leaves dropped pretty fast mostly fallen. Some part still looking beautiful especially the glass house. But the palace is really big so set aside 1-2hours to walk around.

Initially the home of grand prince, until it became the residence of the royal family for the Joseon monarchy.
One of the main palaces in Seoul but less impressive compared to the others.
Deshou Palace is the only one in many palaces in Seoul that combines East and West. Every day, 11:00, 14:00, 15:30 will be held at the main entrance of the first gatekeeper's post change ceremony. During the process, there will be explanations in English, Japanese and Chinese. After the ceremony, tourists can take photos at will, and staff will help take photos. Peripheral recommendation can see Deshou Palace Stone Wall Road, the street outside the South Wall, known as "100 beautiful streets in Korea" one of the tree-lined roads and stone walls into one, creating an antique flavor. Nearby is Seoul Square on the east, Seoul City Hall Building, Seoul Library, Qingxi Square on the northeast, Guanghua Gate Square, Zhendong Theater on the west, Seoul History Museum on the southwest, Seoul Municipal Art Museum on the south, Chongli Gate on the South and South Gate Market on the southeast.
