Cholla Cactus Garden Trail

This is a nice stop along the highway in Joshua Tree. There is parking and a short trail that winds through the cholla - there is even a small first aid kit attached to the fence post at the parking lot in case you get too close to the cholla. It is not a huge wow site but more subtle especially if you are here when the light is right. The cholla are fascinating and it is a real forest of them - more than I have seen together elsewhere. If you are interested there are Ocotillas a short distance further down the road.

The cactus is large and beautiful, but with sharp thorns, you have to walk with caution.
