Boulevard St. Germain

Avenue Saint-Germain is a main street in Paris, located on the left bank of the Seine, from the Sully Bridge on the edge of the Ile Saint-Louis in the east to the Concorde Bridge leading to the Place de la Concorde in the west. The boulevard runs through the 5th, 6th and 7th arrondissements of Paris, and is more famous for the section of the Latin Quarter that crosses the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district, and the section from which it gets its name. Left Bank style on the street The Avenue Saint-Germain, together with Avenue Montparnasse and Avenue Saint-Michel, is what French culture calls the Left Bank. The Left Bank is internationally famous because it was once home to artists and intellectuals. In the past on the Left Bank, poor young artists, writers and philosophers lived in the humble and crowded small hotels in this area, and the surrounding coffee shops were their places to eat, drink, work, socialize, and warm. It is said that Sartre's existentialist philosophy was slowly brewed in the coffee of the Floral Cafe, which he and Beauvoir almost made their home during World War II. After the victory of the second station, it became a meeting point for Picasso and Chagall. Picasso-related items are still available in the souvenir shop next to the cafe. Take a walk on the nearby Boulevard Saint-Michel Walk along the Boulevard de Germain, a north-south street, the Boulevard Saint-Michel, which starts from the Pont Saint-Michel on the Seine and the Place Saint-Michel, and crosses Saint-Michel. The Avenue de Germain continues along the University of Paris and the Jardin du Luxembourg. This is the center of student activities. There are various bookstores around St. Michel Square.
