Machiya architecture representing Sekijuku
Original Text
About 10 minutes walk from Seki Station. Located along the old Tokaido. The admission fee is 300 yen, which is the same as the Sekijuku Hatago Tamaya Historical Museum. The common admission ticket for the three buildings, which adds the Seki float hall, is 500 yen. The museum building (former BESSHO family) is one of the Machiya architectures representing Sekijuku built at the end of the Edo period, and the frontage is narrow and the depth is long. The 2nd floor of the front is plastered and has a insect basket window. The box stairs in the room, the long brazier placed in the room, and the coin box make you feel Edo. There is a dozo behind the main building, and the solution about Sekijuku ...
[Sekijuku] It is recommended to stop by early when walking and see the Sekijuku model [at the time of 1671] exhibited on the 2nd floor of Dozo.

This is composed of [main house] [Dozo], and on the second floor of [Dozo], 1/1000 model of Sekijuku [1671], model of the surrounding area of Sekijuku, [Sekijuku] Machiya floor plan format, etc. (see attached photo) Since it is on display, it is recommended that you stop by early when taking a walk and have the whole イメージ of [Sekijuku].
Cultural properties and historical materials are exhibited using the buildings remaining in the townhouse of Sekijuku. It is a tourist destination that represents Sekijuku, but you don't know its value just by looking at it from the outside. It was a New Year holiday.
You can see the living tools of the time and the model of the cityscape.

Seki-juku prospered as the 47th post station counted from Edo. The old townscape is preserved. It is a museum that used the townhouse at that time. The exhibits include coins boxes, living tools such as Jinkasa, and historical materials that were used at that time. There is also a "box staircase" that makes a drawer using the space under the stairs. You can also use this box staircase to go up to the 2nd floor. Models and photos of the townscape of Sekijuku are exhibited on the 2nd floor. It is a must-see for those who feel history and are interested in history.
Seki Machinami Museum is a museum that opens to the public the traditional Machiya of Sekijuku. I like the "Bari" next to the entrance. It was valuable and interesting to see the inside of the Machiya. Cultural properties and historical materials are also on display. In the 2 floor exhibition room of Dozo, it was good to have a photo exhibition of the changes in the townscape of Sekijuku.
