I came to worship because it was the graveyard of the Kishu Tokugawa family, but it seems that it was damaged by the typhoon last year, and the temple was under repair, and the road to the Kishu Tokugawa family graveyard was closed.
From Fukuoka to Kansai Airport, it was the last visit to Nara ・ Yoshino and Kumano Kodo. On the way back, I went from Nachi to the Kii Peninsula along the sea, and on the way, I took the highway to Kansai Airport. For no reason, I liked the graceful appearance of the Tahoto in the temple, and I learned that there was a temple with the national treasure Tahoto on the way back, so I stopped by on the highway at the Hainan IC. Chohoji Temple was at the end of a idyllic residential area. There is a magnificent mountain gate (Daimon), and beyond it is like a park ...
Chohoji Temple is a temple located about 30 minutes walk from Shimotsu Station. There is a tomb of the Tokugawa family. If you don't know the land, a taxi is recommended.
Yorinobu, the first lord of the Kishu Tokugawa family, became a family temple, and there was a mausoleum until 15 generation. (Yoshimune the 5th, Keifuku the 13th in Edo) Daimon, main hall, and Tahoto were wonderful as national treasures, but I was disappointed that the area around the mausoleum was full of fallen leaves.
It was pretty good
I visited without expecting anything, but it was good. I couldn't visit some facilities due to the typhoon last year, but the view is still good.
