Royal Tomb of King Taejong Muyeol

The Mausoleum of King Muyeol is the mausoleum of the 29th King Taejong Muyeol of Silla (reigned 654∼ 661, Kim Chunju), located at the end of the hill extending from Seondosan in the northwest direction of Gyeongju. Jin Chunqiu was the first king of the Silla middle generation who was born from a real bone. He united with the Tang Dynasty to unify Baekje and laid the foundation for the great cause of unification, but he died before the great cause of unification was completed. The bottom of the mausoleum has a circumference of 114 meters and a height of 8.7 meters. It is a relatively large mausoleum. The bottom is built with natural stones and supported by a small number of large stones, but now they are all buried in the soil, and only stone monuments are left in the east. The stone tortoise stele and the foundation stone, the words "Monument of King Taejong Wuyeol" written by Kim In-wan, the second son of King Wuyeol, are also inscribed on the stone stele, so it can be concluded that it is King Wuyeol's mausoleum. The tomb of King Wuyeol belongs to the early tombs of Silla. Although it is large in scale, it has no protective stones and no decoration. It is very simple as a royal tomb, but fortunately, compared with many gorgeous tombs in Gyeongju without tombstones, King Wuyeol's king In front of the mausoleum there are tombstones revealing the identity, which provides great convenience for archaeology.
