Small, but fascinating
Flora and fauna all explained in the museum, with ample English translations. Try the local but simple restaurants in the village center. Great way to spend half a day.
As I have known Lake Shikotsu is a crater lake, I've been wondering why it has a gourd-like shape, narrowed on the north and the south shores. The center revealed the story to me. The lake used to b...
After strolling around Lake Shikotsu, I entered the visitor center to overcome the cold. However, it was 4 pm, which was closed a few minutes after entering the museum, and I was taken out. In the visitor center, there was an exhibition of creatures living in Lake Shikotsu, and if you had time, it was a place you wanted to relax
This is a beautiful and new center on the shores of Lake Shikotsu. In the center, under the theme of "To travel to forests, mountains, lakes, and another Lake Shikotsu," the state of the volcano that continues to work today, the ecology of creatures around Lake Shikotsu, the world in the lake, etc. In addition to introducing the nature of Lake Shikotsu attractively with models and large photographs, it is wonderful to exhibit the history and life of the region.

Bike rental not recommended
You have to ride the bike on the winding road shared with the trucks. A little bit too dangerous. Disappointed.
