When I visited Mimine Shrine by car from the direction of Nagato, I passed on the straight road of Nise Dam. The straight road on this dam is about 150 meters long and can only pass by one car. Therefore, I was driving only in one direction. I looked around while driving over the dam. I couldn't see directly below, but I found out that I was driving on a narrow straight road in a high place. I wanted to stop the car and look down if possible.
The Nise Dam was completed in 1961 with a gravity arch dam built in the upper reaches of the Arakawa River. The artificial lake created by this dam is Lake Chichibu and is named by Princess Chichibu. The bus from mimineguchi station to mimine Jinja shrine passes over this Damm, so you can see Chichibu Lake from the car window.
The huge wall that drew the arch had the power of 々.

A dam in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture. A dam built in the uppermost part of the main stream of Arakawa. A prefectural road runs above the top of the dam, and if you go ahead, you will find a wonderful Mimine Shrine. There was a Futase Dam parking lot along National Highway No. 140, and there was a place like an observatory overlooking the splendid dam embankment. Futase Dam is a gravity arch dam with a height of 95.0m and a length of 288.5m. Emergency ... to prevent overflow from the top of the dam during abnormal floods in the crest at the top of the dam.
Visited after visiting Mimine Shrine. There is no parking lot near the dam, so I stopped at the Futase Dam parking lot along National Highway No. 140. I walked by the side of the road to the position where I could see Lake Chichibu, but I couldn't enjoy the scenery of the arched dam from the side, so it was best to see it from the observatory. And since it was mid-April, the cherry blossoms on the surrounding slopes were in full bloom. There was no place to park along Route 140, so it was a harvest to be able to take a closer look.
