Cao Yu's Former Residence

Cao Yu and Tianjin have a long-standing relationship. He lived in Tianjin in his early years. He grew up in Tianjin Nankai University and read books. After liberation, he lived in Tianjin. ＂ Cao Yu's Former Residence Memorial Hall ＂ is located at No. 23 and 25 Minzhu Road, Hebei District, Tianjin. It is a two-story Italian small western-style building with two separate front and back. It was built in the end of Qing Dynasty. This is the place where Cao Yu's childhood to youth (1910 ～ 1929) lived, and it is also a place where he is full of young memories. In 2010, in order to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Mr. Cao's birth, the memorial hall of Cao's former residence opened. The museum has a large number of historical materials and nearly 3,000 photos of the museum. Cao Yu (1910 ～ 1996) Original name: Wan Jiabao, born from a fallen feudal bureaucratic family in Tianjin, is one of the pioneers of the Chinese new cultural movement, opera educator, outstanding modern drama writer, known as ＂ Eastern Shakespeare ＂. Formerly dean of Beijing People's Art Theatre.

Cao Yu's former residence is composed of two two-story buildings with brick and wood structures. Because the former residence was located in the Italian concession of the year, the architectural style and layout were also affected by Western architecture. Caoyu's Former Residence Memorial Hall is free to visit, but there must be a registration process.
