A very steep cliff where the Japanese army forced the locals to jump off the cliff during World War II. It is now a war site. The seaside itself is beautiful, it would be a good place without these tragic things
During World War II, Japan had more than 30,000 defenders in Saipan. In order to occupy Saipan, the United States sent 70,000 troops to attack Saipan. The war was extremely fierce. In the end, the Japanese army judged that they could not defeat the American army. In order to avoid being captured, they gathered all the islands. Thousands of Japanese people jumped off the suicide cliff and died.
Long live cliff is a cliff located in the northernmost part of Saipan. In 1944, the US army attacked the Japanese base on the Mariana Islands. The Japanese army retreated to the northern end of the island and did not want to surrender. They forced the old, young, and women to the edge of the Long live cliff together. After shouting long live, they collectively jumped into the cliff.
The origin of the name Long Live Cliff is said to be because during World War II, after the defeat of the Japanese army, all Japanese soldiers shouted Long Live here to jump off the cliff, so later it was called Long Live Cliff. The environment was good and the story was very tragic.
