I'm reminded of cold wintery days coming home late from school and have the delicious aroma of chicken or beef soup wafting through the house from mama's kitchen. Delicious broth with large chucks of beef or chicken and rough cut pieces of fresh potatoes, carrots, zucchini, corn on the cob, and other tasty veggies served with hot tortillas and butter. Give me a tall glass of cold milk and I'll fall back into a childhood memory that I'll never escape from...! Absolutely, just like mama used to make. Plus all the other Mexican favorites, like tacos, tostadas, flautas, and all the rest. All delicious and served with several different types of chili salsa and a very unique avocado dip (large chunks, not mashed). This is no swank palace. Many would describe it as a hole in the wall, but if food, not décor, is what you're after, then try it. If you doubt me, bring your Mexican mama along and ask her opinion!

    5/5Outstanding

I hadn't been there in years and the food continues to be great. The décor is simple, but the menu is extensive and delicious. They put more effort into the food than in the décor. The food here is authentic, just like at home. I've always told my students in Spanish class that a way to see if a restaurant serves authentic Mexican food is to order tacos. If the taco shell is perfectly formed, then they are bought at warehouse type store and they come in boxes; if the taco shell is wobbly that tells you that it is made there. Everyone in my party of 5 ordered something different and we were all satisfied and happy with our choices. At the end, we were surprised by the low bill compared to other Mexican restaurants.

    4/5Excellent

I've been coming to Ciro's since the mid 1980's. It's on Evergreen across from the school. Recently, on a trip there with my son we were told they were known for their flautas (taquito rolled in a flour tortilla), which my son loves. We tried them and he loved them and i thought they were good. We had the Pollo caldo (Mexican chicken soup) and it had a lot of flavor and was wonderful on a cool evening. I had chicken enchiladas and he had the huevos ranchers (again we were told a must). Salsa's are fresh I liked the avocado salsa mochajeda
