Saint Family Cathedral began in 1882. In 1883, Gaudi, a 31-year-old architectural genius, took over as chief architect. Now more than 100 years later, it has not been completed. It is known as the largest uncompleted building in history. However, it has been appraised as a cultural heritage of mankind. The official completion date is expected to be 2026, which is also to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Gaudi's death. There are 18 towers in the church. The highest one in the center stands for Jesus Christ. It is 170 meters high. It is surrounded by four 130-metre towers, representing the four Gospels of the Bible, and a 140-metre-high rear tower to the north, representing the Virgin Mary. The remaining 12 towers on each facade represent the twelve disciples of Jesus, each 100 meters or 110 meters high. At present, only eight towers have been built on both sides of the East and the west, and long queues of worshippers have been formed under the scaffolding. Gaudi's idea is that the Sacred Family Cathedral he designed is not only a house built for God, but also a place of worship. It is also a book that every visitor can read - "Bible". The three main facades of the church are the birth and growth of Jesus in the front, the crucifixion of Jesus in the back, and the glory of Jesus in the left. On the theme of the birth of Christ, the sculpture on the wall shows the story from the conception of Virgin Mary to the growth of Christ. Birth faces the East, implying the birth of Jesus. You can see that this elevation has three porticos, representing the theological virtues of Hope, Faith and Love. Walking into the entrance, you can see the famous "Grapevine Sculpture" - "a group of innocent angels gathered in front of the Gothic Rose Window, while the grape bushes in the middle of the wall are the newly born Jesus and the Virgin Mary and St. John, beside which comes the newspaper. Happy Three Saints of the East. In particular, Gaudi set the birth facade in the East where the sun rises. If you come to the Holy Family Hall from 9:00 to 11:00 in the morning, you can see the beautiful scene of the birth of Jesus in the sunrise. On the other hand, the facade of suffering, which symbolizes the death of Jesus in the face of sunset, is supported by six inclined pillars, which also has three porticos and four towers. The style here is totally different, because the group sculptures of the suffering facade were created by Soberak. His style is quite different from Gaudi's. Facing Gaudi's incomparable artistic height and soft and changeable curve, he still adheres to his consistent style and interprets Gaudi's artistic concept with square and hard lines. Judas'kiss can be seen on this side. Peter denies the Lord, whips Jesus, Jesus wearing a crown of thorns, and Jesus is being tried. (The soldier behind Jesus borrows the chimney shape of the house of Mira, and it is Soberak who salutes the great Gaudi. ) Soldiers throwing buns, three Mary, Jesus suffered and buried him. There are more sadness and sadness here than before, and the heartache of the people who watch it is painful. Entering the church, you will hear the crowd utter countless words of praise in all languages to describe everything in front of you. Colored glass is widely used to make the light inside the church colorful with the sun. It seems that time and space are still in the meditation. The flow of people who vent but are quiet is unconscious, sacred and solemn, leaving only the dialogue between the soul and God.

Visited in August and it was so beautiful! It was very busy and a bit hectic running around in the hot weather after 3 small kids but they absolutely loved it!The park opposite gave a good fun break for the kids with amazing views for us 😍Vendors in the area are much more expensive than going further down the road but there was plenty of water fountains around for a drink

The Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família, otherwise known as Sagrada Família, is a church under construction in the Eixample district of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It is the largest unfinished Catholic church in the world.

This was so amazing!!!!! The Sagrada Familia is so visually arresting. Although there were a lot of people, it still felt so serene and peaceful inside the church itself. This is one of the most fascinating places to visit in Barcelona. It is right smack in the center of everything I feel everything in Barcelona emanates from this point. The brilliance of Gaudi cannot be encapsulated in words.

It is worth going, both the appearance and the interior are exquisite. It is also especially recommended to the St. Paul Hospital not far away, which can take the whole picture of the Sagrada Familia. There are no tops, and there are more people in line. There are also more souvenirs.

Sagrada Família, the iconic basilica in Barcelona, Spain, is a masterpiece of architectural genius and spiritual expression. Designed by the renowned Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí, this awe-inspiring structure has become synonymous with Barcelona's skyline and is a testament to the city's rich cultural heritage.Stepping into the Sagrada Família is like entering another world—a world where light, color, and symbolism intertwine to create an atmosphere of profound spirituality and wonder. As you approach the basilica, the first thing that strikes you is its sheer size and intricate façade. Towering spires reach towards the heavens, adorned with intricate sculptures depicting scenes from the Bible and symbols of Christian faith.Upon entering the basilica, we are greeted by a breathtaking interior bathed in an ethereal glow. The vastness of the space, coupled with the intricate details of the architecture, is overwhelming in its beauty. Gaudí's innovative use of natural light creates a sense of transcendence, as sunlight filters through stained glass windows, casting a kaleidoscope of colors onto the stone pillars and floors. One of the most striking features of the Sagrada Família is its forest-like interior, with towering columns resembling the trunks of trees reaching upwards to support the soaring ceilings. The organic shapes and forms of the architecture evoke a sense of harmony with nature, reflecting Gaudí's belief in the spiritual significance of the natural world.Every detail of the Sagrada Família is imbued with symbolic meaning, from the intricate carvings adorning the façade to the geometric patterns of the stained glass windows. Each element tells a story, inviting us to contemplate the mysteries of faith and existence.
