Surrounded by many historic buildings, Sultan Abdul Shamad Tower overlooks Independence Square and is one of the most remarkable landmarks built by the UK. The design was inspired by the Indian Mughal architecture, completed in 1897, which was established by the Selangor Secretariat and later changed to the Supreme Court. After years of waste, it was the site of the Ministry of Heritage, Culture and Arts. There are also Tudor-style Selangor Royal Club, National History Museum (formerly Standard Chartered Building) and Memorial Library, Episcopal Church of Santa Maria, a 100-year-old Gothic building, Kuala Lumpur Main Train Station, etc.
