In ancient times, this avenue connects the Luxor Temple to the Karnake Temple,2.5 kilometers away, and sits on each side with hundreds of Sphinx statues. Also known as the Sphinx Beast Avenue. At the end of the avenue, the gate of the Luxor Temple can be seen. To the north is a straight royal road lined with neat sphinxes on both sides, the famous Sphinx Avenue. By 2004, there were buildings in the modern city of Luxor, and the city government has begun to clean up the avenue. We could see the basic scale of the avenue when we went, but it was still being cleaned and repaired, and I believe it must be spectacular after all.
