Meizhou Island is a small fishing town off the coast of Putian, Fujian province in China. To get there, you can take a bus or taxi from Putian city to the coast (shipping wharf), where you will need to board a ferry to get to the island. The town is very laid back, and the hotels are mostly family owned hostels. There are great Chinese restaurants, and you can also find some Western take out restaurants. The beaches are really beautiful, specifically the sunsets. Meizhou island is said to be the birthplace of the goddess Mazu, and her statue can be seen at the main temple on the island. There are plenty of beautiful temples to visit, and the architecture is also quite unique. Meizhou island is a perfect place to find some peace and quiet, outside of the city. I actually found the vast sea from 'The Journey of Ling Bells' in Fujian~ It's just like the scene at the beginning where Ling Bells rides downhill on her bike and meets the male lead. It feels as if the anime has been projected into reality. It has a beautiful name called 'Southern Penglai'. There are many niche attractions on the island where you can play at will. There are many roads leading to the sea. There are beautiful seaside caves and lighthouses. There's also a black sand beach that looks like it's from Iceland. Had breakfast with Qiu Shengjianbao, tasted good, just had to queue for a while, the vendor was busy with takeaway orders, somewhat indifferent to the customers in front of them. After breakfast, took a bus to the Putian Bus Station, where there is a bus to the Meizhou Island ferry terminal. The combined ferry and entrance ticket costs 125 yuan, with many ferry departures, so you can board quickly. Once on the island, you can walk directly to the Mazu Ancestral Temple, the most important attraction on the island. Or, like me, take the No. 1 bus directly to the end of the line, Goose Tail Marine Erosion Park. There are some natural landscapes there, among which Feiji Cave is the most famous. Walking along the seaside plank road, the scenery changes with every step, pleasing to the eye. After viewing the landscapes of the Marine Erosion Park, you can take a bus directly to the Mazu Ancestral Temple. Or, like me, ride a shared bicycle and pick a few spots on the mobile map to check out. In hindsight, those spots weren't worth the visit. It was more meaningful to ride around at will, observing the local life and roadside scenery. The island's transportation is convenient, with buses, sightseeing cars, and shared bicycles to choose from. The Ancestral Temple is more religious than scenic, with the majority of people going there to burn incense and pray. Today, I also saw believers from the Taiwan region coming here to worship, which was quite interesting. Watching their orderly procession, with drumming and blowing, was lively and attracted many people to take photos. After visiting the Ancestral Temple, continued to ride around the island, some seaside road sections have nice views. Spent a total of 5 hours on the island, overall, the most worthwhile places to visit are the Ancestral Temple and Goose Tail Marine Erosion Park, and the best experience is to ride an electric bike around at will. 🚉Transportation Tips: Before entering the island, take a bus; after entering, choose from buses, shared bicycles, or sightseeing cars. 👍Most Recommended: It's suggested to ride a shared bicycle around the island at will, freely and comfortably.

I went on a spontaneous trip with friends, and in the summer, the most popular activity is definitely playing in the water. Meizhou Island is very suitable for a few friends to bring their children. Since the island is not very large, the attractions are quite concentrated. Renting an electric bike and riding along the island's ring road, you can enjoy the incredibly beautiful seascape. The beaches and rocks merge with the sky. The beauty is overwhelming, and the most recommended places are: 1. Mazu Temple, where the incense is very strong, and there are many worshippers. Walking along, you can see the sea near the Mazu statue, which is incredibly blue and beautiful. Standing high, you can see very far, as shown in picture 1. 2. The Rainbow Road area also has a beautiful seascape, and many people stop to take photos along the way. Next to Rainbow Road is Meiyu and Chaoyin, which are also beach areas. The beach is full of small shells, and you can take children treasure hunting. The kids love it, and it's very interesting. 3. At the Goose Tail Divine Rock Park, there is a very popular photo spot, as shown in picture 2. We arrived too late, and the sun was about to set, but we finally managed to take a few photos in the last 10 minutes before it got dark. The location is not easy to find, so you might want to ask locals for directions. Pay attention to the signs nearby, or you might go the wrong way. Meizhou Island is still highly recommended for a visit. Many beaches are very clean, but you must book accommodation in advance, or you might end up in a subpar hotel. We made a last-minute decision and spent 650 yuan on a room that was quite poor, but accommodation on the island is quite expensive during the peak season. Seafood meals cost about 100 yuan per person, and this Fujian cuisine restaurant is highly recommended. The environment is nice, the food tastes good, and you must go early. They start at 11 am and stop accepting customers around 12:40 pm, so if you want to eat there, make sure to go early. They start serving again at 5:10 pm. The upstairs cafe is also a great place for photos. Having afternoon tea with a little cake and enjoying the air conditioning is very relaxing.

Firstly, a must-visit spot: the "Meizhou Ancestral Temple", the Mazu temple; secondly, two optimal times, namely watching the sunrise at Meiyu Tide Sound in the early morning, and watching the sunset at Goose Tail Divine Rock Garden in the evening; thirdly, three transportation routes. First of all, there is no bridge or land connection to this island, so to get on the island, you need to log in to the Meizhou Island Ferry official website, book and purchase ferry tickets online, and take the ferry to the island at Wenjia Wharf. The first ferry departs at 7:20, and the last one at 18:00, with a ticket price of 110 yuan: ferry ticket 45 yuan + entrance fee 65 yuan. After landing on the island, since private vehicles are not allowed, the most comfortable way to tour Meizhou Island is to rent an electric scooter. You can stop the scooter anytime, and generally, you don't need to recharge it for a day's trip around the island. Depending on the size of the vehicle, the daily rental fee ranges from 59 to 100 yuan. For the elderly or those who are afraid of the wind, you can choose to take the bus. The island's bus lines 1-3 can reach most of the important attractions.

Fourth stop: Tianfei Homeland. Passed by when going to the farmers' market, came here after eating, mainly Mazu's ancestral temple, former residence, and Meizhou women's culture, etc., there's a beautiful tower, took some photos. Fifth stop: Mazu Temple. Min Nan people who love to worship naturally won't miss this spot, prayed with full sincerity, hoping Mazu will bless 🙏! After praying, went up to the mountaintop Mazu Cultural Park and took photos with the giant Mazu statue, overlooking the island from the mountain, extremely beautiful, took many photos. Sixth stop: Goose Tail Beach, Feiji Cave. After visiting the Mazu Temple and seeing there was still plenty of time, rode the electric scooter to the other end's Goose Tail Divine Rock Park. The beach here is a bit more crowded, with coffee shops, but didn't stay long, went straight to see Feiji Cave, this marine erosion landscape is quite special, just a bit far. The cave entrance was always crowded with people taking photos, didn't get a clean background shot, so headed back directly. Returned to the wharf around 5:30 pm, returned the electric scooter, took the ferry off the island, missed the sunset, if there's enough time, can stay overnight on the island, many scenic spots can be enjoyed slowly, not many tourists, beautiful scenery, personally feel it's a very worthwhile island to visit. Meizhou Island is actually part of Putian and is the second largest island. Due to its elongated shape from north to south, resembling the eyebrows of a beauty, it is named Meizhou. It has a population of 40,000, with an average annual temperature of 21°C, making it especially suitable for tourism and vacations. The island's coastline stretches over 30 kilometers, including more than 20 kilometers of beaches and 5 kilometers of marine erosion rocks, creating a natural spectacle where mountains are surrounded by water, the sea extends beyond the mountains, and the mountains and sea are connected, blending into the horizon. Coupled with blue skies, white clouds, golden sands, and green forests and temples, it forms a romantic and picturesque coastal scenery and is a national 5A scenic spot. Meizhou Island is the divine birthplace of , hence it is known as the 'Penglai of the South'. Parks, temples, and film and television bases themed around Mazu are scattered throughout the island. Regardless of where you start, it is recommended to rent an electric scooter. The public ones are for single riders. If you are traveling as a couple, you can contact locals to rent a double scooter, which costs 60 yuan plus a 100 yuan deposit. Note: You must park at the designated place to get your deposit back. If you stay at a B&B on Meizhou Island, they will have electric scooters for rent for just 50 yuan. Actually, there is no need to ride around the island, because the distance between attractions is long from north to south and short from east to west, so you can switch back and forth in a zigzag pattern. Because winter is the off-season, there is basically very little food for sale in the scenic area, only the town near the ancestral temple of Mazu will have food. ||Here are a few seasides I've visited and recommend. I've compiled a list of nine places to watch the sea, with a rating for each. All of these spots are around Xiamen and the photos are all unedited from the original camera, so you can trust their authenticity! 1️⃣ Dongshan Island🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Travel Time: 1-2 days The movie 'The Left Ear' was filmed here. The water is incredibly clear, and you can see the blue sky, white clouds, and the sea along the coastline, while the interior offers a simple and comfortable life in a fishing village. You must stay overnight and watch the sunrise the next day; it will not disappoint. 2️⃣ Emerald Bay🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Travel Time: 1-2 hours The water in Emerald Bay is clear and the sand is fine. It's definitely worth a visit. 3️⃣ Guanyin Mountain🌟🌟🌟🌟 Travel Time: 2-4 hours The water at Guanyin Mountain is not very clear. When I visited, the water was quite murky despite the good weather. It's still very comfortable and pleasant to set up a parasol on the beach, lie down, and enjoy the sea breeze and the sound of the waves. 4️⃣ Huangcuo Beach🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Travel Time: 1-2 days Huangcuo Beach is beautiful at any time of day, with sunrise in the morning, sea views during the day, and sunset in the evening. The water quality is excellent, and the facilities are well-maintained. It's a must-visit spot in Xiamen! 5️⃣ Pingtan Island🌟🌟🌟🌟 Travel Time: 1-2 days Pingtan Island is famous for its windmill sea. Unfortunately, the weather was bad when I visited, and Pingtan Island was shrouded in fog. Interested friends can check out photos posted by other users on my Pingtan Island post. It's truly beautiful, and I will definitely revisit. 6️⃣ Meizhou Island🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Travel Time: 1-2 days Meizhou Island is a five-star scenic area with beautiful scenery and well-developed infrastructure. It's very comfortable to visit, and you can not only enjoy the sea but also experience the culture of Mazu. 7️⃣ Gulangyu Island🌟🌟🌟🌟 Travel Time: 3-5 hours When visiting Gulangyu Island, it's best to go during the off-season when there are fewer people. Stroll along the coastline and climb up to Sunlight Rock to overlook the panoramic view. Every street and ancient building here is worth taking the time to appreciate. The only downside is that the water is not very clean, with trash floating near the shore, and it's not very attractive if the weather is bad. 8️⃣ Ten-mile Long Dam🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Travel Time: 2-4 hours I've been to Xiamen many times, but this was my first visit to the Ten-mile Long Dam. I can only say, why did I discover this treasure so late! The overpass crossing the sea, the sunset over the sea, the orange sea, the sunset cars, the lawn music, all make this place surrounded by romance. It's great for a walk. ‼️When going to the seaside, the weather is definitely the most important factor. The scenery is completely different on sunny days compared to cloudy ones, so be sure to check the weather before you set out!
