Just an hour south of Siena, you'll find this area that might resemble one you've seen in movies like The Gladiator, The English Patient, or Romeo & Juliet. Know as Val d’Orcia, this valley is dense with long, perfect cypress trees roads, and postcard-ish houses on top of too-beautiful-to-be-true hills. Pienza is probably the most known town here, a lovely medieval center that oversees the whole area and awards you with unforgettable panoramas and memories. The local culinary experience is rich and super yummy. You'll get used to prelacies like cinta senese, pecorino toscano, pici (a type of pasta) or lampredotto. You'll have a hard time picking a restaurant where tasting the genuine Tuscan cuisine, the choice is so vast! Also, where to sleep? Bed and breakfasts and “poderi” are everywhere, most of them are gifted by enchanted views of the surrounding hills. Consider a visit to the close villages of Montepulciano, Bagno Vignoni and San Quirico d’Orcia, as long as insanely beautiful places like Cappella di Vitaleta.
