Had a cocktail at Bemelmans and then strolled over. Two couples. Welcoming upon arrival. Excellent service from our knowledgeable waiter, Juan Carlos. Lovely old-school ambiance. Outstanding food! Started with mussels &amp; salads; then seafood capellini, sea bass, filet of sole, all perfectly prepared. Delicious dessert sampler &amp; cappuccinos. Attentive service throughout. We will be back! Great experience, and I am not an easy grader.

Vivolo Restaurant

I stopped by here after a doctor&#39;s appointment only because I was starving and the menu choices posted outside looked tempting. It was fabulous! What a find. I&#39;ve gone back twice already and plan to go again this week with friends. You can make a meal out of just appetizers, they are so good. And the portion size is pretty big. The spices and flavors in the food will please your palate. The menu is extensive and authentic. The service was also good. It&#39;s always nice to sit by the window and people-watch and since they&#39;re on a corner there are lots of tables by the windows.

Wonderful service, and off 2nd Ave. a great place to get a wonderful meal at a good price and not overly crowded. Has outdoor seating as well for the warmer months

Taking a late lunch break from a Sotheby&#39;s Auction, we did a quick check for restaurants within a few blocks, that had excellent reviews. Quoting a previous review, after dining here,Jean Claude&#39;s is a small, local neighborhood &quot;gem of a restaurant&quot;. Despite arriving at about 3:45 PM, shortly before they were to close for lunch, the staff &amp; owner were very accommodating to meet our every request and told us not to rush and to take as long as we needed to enjoy our lunch. And we did. The owner noted that they have two different Chefs. One for lunch and another for the dinner service. He noted both have their individual styles, and both are really good. He told us to come back someday for dinner to see the different creative style of the dinner chef. We plan to do it. For lunch, I ordered the classic French Onion Soup which was about as good as it gets. My lunch entr&eacute;e was a Hanger Steak (with a nice French Red) and it was delicious as well. The overall ambiance resembles a small French/NY Bistro-it was simply comfortable and we enjoyed the setting. The wine menu is somewhat limited (thus one of the small reasons I didn&#39;t give it an 5 rating), however we enjoyed a nice French Red with our lunch. As fair as price, it was more than fair deal for NY-I will certainly make this a regular stop for trips in the future in the Big Apple. It is indeed a nice gem of a find. I would recommend it for friends or business folks that like a casual setting with a nice &quot;laid back&quot; feel that serves very good food at a great price.

I, my husband, and other members of our family eat dinner here frequently (usually 2 -3 times per month). We have never had a bad meal. The chardonnay is wonderful. I usually order the blanca salad and grilled branzino, which comes with roasted veg and potatoes; it is one of my favorite fish dishes in NYC. The bread, which we request be toasted, is great and whenever they have the apple strudel, we order it. I have never had better apple strudel. The service is always welcoming and excellent. After reading some of the negative reviews, I wonder if this is the same restaurant.

Wonderful small and intimate setting. Everyone makes you feel welcome - as if you are a highly valued regular patron. Very personal service and the food is excellent. Excellent drinks. Nice to visit on a regular basis.

One of my favorite things to do in New York is to eat in a neighborhood Italian restaurant. I am looking for a place that is a bit small but has some charm, is not on any of the tourist&#39;s lists, would not be recommended by the hotel concierge but has great food served by waiters that may not be the friendliest but they know the food and give great service. This restaurant fits the bill perfectly. The other diners all looked like locals. The dining room was very cozy and charming. Some reviews said to avoid the upstairs dining room. It was closed the night we were there, but our waiter took us up and it looked like a nice dining room to me. We enjoyed the food tremendously and would definitely go back on our next visit.
