As we rode in from JFK to the apartment we'd stay in near the Met, we passed a number of restaurants that had curb appeal. This travel day was also our anniversary and we preferred a dining experience better than normal. We walked back to Erminia, checked their menu, and went in. They normally take reservations but, since we had arrived before the dinner crowd, they offered a table. This a very small and cozy establishment, seating at max about 40 at 13 tables, a mix of 2 and 4 - person tables. Very little room between tables. I liked that a sign inside requests no use of cellphones. The feeling inside is one of quaintness, coziness, and comfortable reserve. The pace of the meal was slow. We were there for nearly 90 minutes. Never felt rushed or hurried. We don't drink alcohol so I cannot comment on the wine. However, our salads, Mozzarella Di Bufala and Insalata Di Finocchio, were delicious. Our entrees were from the menu. Their Fettucine with classic Italian meat sauce entree had wonderful homemade pasta with great flavor. My wife ordered their Rotolo Di Pasta, a wonderful homemade pasta wrapped around a mix of ricotta, spinach, and mozzarella with an accompanying tomato sauce. This dish was to die for. It had wonderful rich flavors and is likely the best Italian dish I've ever tasted. We ordered cheesecake and tiramisu for dessert. The tiramisu was excellent. All in all, this was a wonderful dining experience and made our anniversary celebration a very memorable one.
