Nanshan Temple is located inside Nanshan Park. The environment here is both quiet and elegant. Nanshan Temple was built on and around local caves starting in the second year of the Duangong Period of the Taizu Emperor of the Song Dynasty (AD 989). Ever since ancient times, this site has been the first choice for nearby residents to visit when they want to pray for good fortune. When visitors first arrive at Nanshan Park, they climb up along Nanshan Mountain before coming to the temple. Along the way, many pavilions for resting or sightseeing have been built. The temple has a calm and quiet environment with caves behind it, including the Big Buddha and Guanyin Cave. One of the treasures of the temple is an intact Song Dynasty iron bell.

The Confucian Temple of Liuzhou was built during the reign of Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty. In 815, Liu Zongyuan rebuilt the Confucian Temple and wrote related articles on the topic. After the Tang Dynasty had ended, the Confucian Temple of Liuzhou experienced ebbs and flows. In 1928, there was a large fire and many of the main buildings were damaged or burned down. After more than two thousand years of developmental history, the Confucian Temple has gone far beyond its physical meaning as a piece of architecture and has already become an integral symbol of Chinese culture. This extant Confucian temple fully reflects the mainstream position of Confucianism in Chinese traditional culture.
