About Nairobi

Nairobi (which means cool water in the Maasai language) was founded in 1899 as a railway camp. Today it is quite westernized, one of Africa's major cities (and the U.N.'s fourth World Centre) and is the capital of Kenya. Rapid development has created a buzzing commercial atmosphere which necessitates holding your wits about you to avoid purse snatchers and the like. The National Museum offers some interesting education, but most travellers pass through Nairobi as a gateway to the National Parks and wildlife encounter/safari experience which are just outside the city.

Giraffe Centre
72 Reviews
Nature Reserve
The Giraffe Center is home to the endangered Rothschild Giraffe, whose mission is to foster animal protection awareness, provide environmental education, and inspire people to appreciate and protect the diversity of Kenyan animals. This place is very interesting and the content of the event is also colorful. You can observe the giraffes from the second floor balcony of a red building and feed them. This is a very rare experience, especially for children or adults with childlikeness. From the giraffe center you can also cross the adjacent Gogo River and enter the bird sanctuary for an interesting forest walk.
Nairobi National Park

National Park
Nairobi National Park is the only national park located in the capital city in the world. The park's landscape is a mixture of savanna and marshland, where you can see lions, cheetahs, gazelle and other wild animals. It is also the only place where the black rhinoceros can be found in the world, so it is also called the " Ark of Rhinoceros". The marshes in the park feed hundreds of birds.

Trip Moments

Nairobi has a very healing park that adopts giraffes. In the 1970s, a giraffe called Rothschild was on the verge of extinction. By 1973, there were only 130 in western Kenya. In order to save this rare species, they applied a method of adopting the animal and returning it to nature. Visitors come here to choose to feed the giraffes, sit on the quiet bench and have tea, and even kiss the giraffes, as long as you stay outside the fence. With the stick-shaped feeder feeding the giraffe, the giraffe will come over and feed and feeling really glad. I feel that the world's longest neck animal is also very happy to kiss humans.
