What people are saying:

Los Angeles Chinatown Los Angeles Chinatown is connected to the ancient city of Los Angeles and is located north of Sunset Blvd. Although not as famous as Chinatowns in New York and San Francisco, it is one of the oldest Chinatowns in European and American countries. The scope of Chinatown is about Broadway as the main axis and extends to Bernard St. The antique Chinatown Gateway is its signature. As usual, there are many Chinese restaurants, shops and banks in Chinatown. Wait. After more than one hundred years of continuous development, this place has now become one of the cultural life centers of the Chinese in Los Angeles. Chinese signs can be seen everywhere on the streets. When you come to Chinatown, apart from experiencing the history of Chinese development in Los Angeles, shopping and food are of course the main content.

Additional Information

Introduction

By 1870, a population of around 200 Chinese immigrants lived in a short and dim rear way; close to 50 feet wide. That was devastated to clear a path for Union Station and the developing Chinese population was moved to what used to be Los Angeles' Little Italy. Dumpling houses and the Hollywood variant of old Shanghai turned into the region where there were once wineries and trattorias. An old motion picture set was given to the 1930's re-vamping of the zone to give it an extraordinary look. Today, you will discover eateries, shops, and festivals in this vivid segment of the city.
