“Gili” means islands in the local language, while “Gili Island” refers to the three small islands — Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air — located on the northwest coast of Lombok. These islands are frequently visited by honeymooners, party lovers and divers. They are known for their white sandy beaches with palm trees and coral reefs offshore. There are resorts and hotels on the islands as well, which means you can even spend a few nights there. With a reputation for being the 'turtle capital of the world' and about 25 dive sites around the three islands, the Gili Islands are also one of Indonesia's top areas for scuba diving and snorkeling. You will find a variety of topography and an enormous amount of diverse marine life in this area.
