Old Quarter Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Mar)
Hanoi, Vietnam | Cultural and creative shops worth visiting in the Old Quarter
Today, while strolling through the Old Quarter of Hanoi, I was pleasantly surprised to discover several cultural and creative shops.
① Bookstore Nhà sách Mão
This bookstore has a long history. Even though it's located on the second floor of an inconspicuous building, it still attracts many visitors.
Address: 5 P.Đinh Lễ, Tràng Tiền, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội 100000.
②Handmade Ceramic Shop Cerender Ceramics
It's roughly located in the direction of the Vietnamese National Library.
Address: 11a Tràng Thi, Tràng Tiền, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội
③Stationery Shop Arimi Stationary
As a stationery enthusiast, I was thrilled to find a stationery shop in Vietnam. The shop has many Chinese stationery tapes and sticky notes. The shop is located on the second floor of an unassuming building. The shop owner speaks English. I bought three rolls of tape and left happily.
Address: 55 P. Hai Bà Trưng, Trần Hưng Đạo, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội.
My 1st Christmas in the capital 😍🥰
🕍 Attraction: St. Joseph's Cathedral
My first time visit this attraction in festive time. The weather is cool and the Xmas decoration is on going.
It's also interesting to have Lemon tea while looking at the cathedral and traffic on the street.
💫 Furthermore, the attraction surrounding is also known as the Old Quarter in Hanoi which is an intriguing neighbourhood, home to a mix of Vietnamese architecture, green spaces, ancient shops and fresh-as-it-gets street food.

St. Joseph Cathedral Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Mar)
19th Century Europe in Vietnam!
Saint Joseph’s Cathedral in Hanoi is a fascinating example of neo-gothic European architecture from the 19th century in the heart of one of Southeast Asia’s biggest metropolitan areas. The inside of the cathedral is distinctively more modern than the external facade would suggest, which makes the cathedral a rather unique. In many ways the cathedral is a strange balance of East and West, old and new, religious and secular. The area around the cathedral is filled with artisan restaurants, takeaways, coffee shops, and bars. Therefore this church and its surroundings are a must-visit site for anyone visiting Hanoi.#Cathedral #Hanoi #vietnam
🥰The Beautiful St.Joseph’s Cathedral🥰
🇻🇳Our Hanoi Happenings 🇻🇳
We visited the St.Joseph’s Cathedral on Nha Chung (Church) Street, it is the oldest Catholic church in Hanoi. It was very convenient to walk from the Old Quarter. This was one of the first structures built by the French colonial government in Indochina when it was first opened in December 1886 and completed in 1888. In spite of the long wars that destroyed major parts of Hanoi, St Joseph’s Cathedral is still in good condition. Today, it is a historical attraction in Hanoi which remains the image of the beauty of the old Hanoi. This Church makes an impression of the ancient beauty of Hanoi and it is definitely a must-visit sight!

Hanoi
Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam,
It is also the cultural capital of Vietnam.
Temples and churches, ancient streets and theaters...
Strolling in Hanoi, discoveries everywhere.
The beauty of the fusion between the East and the West.
St. Joseph's Cathedral, the oldest Catholic church in Hanoi, has a Gothic architectural style that gives it a hint of the charm of Notre Dame de Paris. The exquisite stained glass inside the church is worth seeing, with each depicting a different biblical story. Hoan Kiem Lake, located in the center of Hanoi, is a great place for local residents to relax and play. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings, the lakeside road turns into a huge open-air night market, where you can enjoy the lake view and taste roadside snacks. Water puppetry is a traditional stage play in Vietnam, with stories mostly drawn from folk life. Puppeteers need to stand underwater to manipulate the puppets, which is a great test of skill. The Thang Long Water Puppet Theater in Hanoi still offers the opportunity to enjoy such traditional drama.

Hanoi in the spring
The blue skies, as well as the mild temperature, are perfect for exploring Hanoi’s many attractions by foot too. Visit Hoan Kiem Lake or the One Pillar Pagoda, besides whetting the appetite on some of the most sumptuous foods of Hanoi.
A cup of hot coffee with noodles is just the right thing for a chilly evening. You can look forward to the Annual Flower Festival that takes place in the last week of December. The Tet Festival may fall at the end of January, depending on the dates of the lunar calendar.

Hanoi Train Track Cafe Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Mar)
Famous train street in Hanoi
Legendary train street, located close to Old Quarter and Bay mau Lake, is one of the must visit place in Hanoi. Experience is beautiful and definitely unique. We came around 6pm-7:30 pm and we saw 4 trains. Also met a great and nice cafe owner that helped us with the photos, so we ended up drinking beer in that cafe. Also we got a bottle cap, crushed by train, as a memory from this remarkable place. Definitely every recommendation :) #hanoi #hanoitravel #trainstreet
Hanoi’s Train Street, Vietnam 🇻🇳
The Hanoi Train Street is one of the most famous tourist spots in Hanoi. It’s a narrow street hidden in one of the back streets of Hanoi and surrounded by narrow houses packed closely together. These families’ backyards are the railways where the train passes twice per day.
What makes it interesting is that the train tracks are only about 1 meter away from the surrounding houses, which looks quite dangerous. And when a train passes by people will go into the house to be safe.
When you come here, try sitting and drinking coffee by the railway, the drinks are not too special but the scenery is unique and not too far from the center of Hanoi. You can walk there from Hoan Kiem Lake.
I ordered a cup of egg coffee but it was sweet, it tasted good but i’d prefer if it’s a little bit less sugar 😅

Cafes beside Railway Track
Hundred years old train tracks running through the heart of Hanoi's old town have become an interesting attraction for travellers to Hanoi, especially foreigners.
It is located a short walk from Hoan Kiem Lake at Tran Pu Street and Phung Hung Street. The special thing that attracts the tourists is the residential area along the two sides of Hanoi Train Track, right next to the railway on the doorstep, which many of them had converted into restaurants and cafes.
The street is so narrow, so they must ensure that their vehicles and things are safe whenever the train passes by. The owners of the restaurants will know the timing of the train pass, if you want to know, can check with them.
There is a so called policeman, which will prevent you from going into the tracks by yourself, but you are allowed, when you are brought in by the owner to the restaurant for a drink, so before the train comes, you got the freedom to take as many photos as you like.
Wonderful Hanoi Train Street
Getting There - Train street is situated between Le Duan and Kham Tien street in Hanoi’s Old Quarter. It takes around 30 minutes to walk from Hoan Kiem lake. I recommend putting Ngo 224 Le Duan, the name of the street, into google maps and letting that guide you.
Attractions - The train travels down Ngo 224 Le Duan each day at 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm as it makes its way from Hue to Long Bien railway station. I recommend getting there early but make sure that you are in a safe spot for when the train passes. The train isn’t likely to stop if you are caught in the middle of the track when it passes. Getting a cool photo isn’t worth the chance of death.
