We popped in for a lazy midweek lunch whilst visiting Long Melford during the half term. They are dog-friendly which is great and our pup enjoyed having a snooze away from the rain. The building itself is very impressive with great views over the Green. We ordered a fish cake for starters and steaks for main with a side of honey glazed carrots. The food was exceptional. Insanely delicious and cooked to perfection. We couldn’t fault it! The service however was a little slow. We had to ask multiple times for a second glass of wine. It took over 5 minutes to bring some ketchup for the chips (by which point they were getting cold) and after presenting the bill, nobody came to take our card. The entire service seemed very idle. It was a shame as the food was 5* but the service just fell short of this.Overall a lovely meal but I suggest the front of house staff need a little training.
