Photos of Kapitan Keling Mosque

Jining Kapitan Mosque was built in 1800. The milky white exterior and golden dome of the temple are a major feature. The mosque was built by the first group of Indian Muslim immigrants who came to Penang in 1801. It was originally a square shape with a promenade and a sloping ridge roof. In 1926, architects who were donated and hired by Muslims and Hindus painted it with Moorish architectural colors. The milky white appearance and the golden dome make it even more solemn at dusk.
