What do you need to know before visiting Tokyo Disneyland?

Tokyo has not just one Disneyland, but two: the classic one with a castle and the nautical-themed DisneySea.

We managed to visit both, so here are some tips:

1. Tickets to both Disneylands can be purchased using the Trip.com app. We used it to book our accommodations and all the tours (except for the Hiroshima Peace Museum). The app accepts Russian cards.

2. Be sure to download the Disney Resort app. You can upload QR codes there, reserve fast-track slots there, and use the map to navigate. The app also displays the wait time.

3. There's no point in arriving an hour before opening. Trust me: even if you arrive at 7 a.m., there will already be a huge crowd at the entrance. You'll just be waiting in line for an extra hour—you can't avoid it anyway. 😄 The official opening is at 9:00 AM, but visitors are admitted as early as 8:30 AM. And as soon as this crowd is let in, people rush to the most popular rides. By 9:00 AM, the wait for the Frozen ride was already 120 minutes. It makes sense to arrive by 8:30 AM to get through the turnstiles and snag your coveted slot.

4. If you want to enter the park before everyone else, book a hotel at the park—you'll get a 15-minute head start.

5. Choose the rides you want to try first in advance. As soon as you enter, head straight to them. You'll have time to explore the grounds and take photos.

6. You'll only be able to grab a snack at DisneySea because the restaurants only accept foreign cards. If you don't have a foreign card, you'll be eating sandwiches outside. 😄 You can pay with cash at the regular Disneyland without any problems.

7. DisneySea opened relatively recently, so the lines there are much longer than at the regular Disneyland. But the rides there are also more extreme (the Pterodactyl Flight at Universal can't be beat). At Disneyland, you'll feel more nostalgic for childhood cartoons: there are many rides that allow you to watch scenes from cartoons or movies without the extreme thrills.

8. You can buy a fast pass. The cost is from 1,500 to 2,500 yen (payment by foreign card only).

9. Be prepared for long lines. We were there on weekdays, but the lines reached 200 minutes. By the end, you wonder if it's worth it. 😅

At DisneySea, we recommend visiting:
· Peter Pan's Never Land Adventure;
· Rapunzel's Forest (oh, those lanterns!);
· Anna and Elsa's Frozen Journey (we didn't get to go, but try your luck);
· Indiana Jones Adventure;
· Soaring: Fantastic Flight;
· Tower of Terror (free fall);
· Journey to the Center of the Earth (free fall + gorgeous scenery).

At Classic Disneyland:
· Pirates of the Caribbean;
· Haunted Mansion (haunted house);
· Pooh's Hunny Hunt (great for kids);
· Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek! (Monsters, Inc.).
