Bruchsal, located in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, in the Kraichgau region between Karlsruhe and Heidelberg, is a historic city with a population of approximately 46,000. Once an important center of the Speyer Archdiocese, it is now renowned for its Baroque architecture, cultural heritage, and beautiful countryside. The city's most famous attraction is Bruchsal Palace (Schloss Bruchsal), built in 1720, one of the most important Baroque palaces in southern Germany. Commissioned by the Archbishop of Speyer, the palace boasts a lavish interior, with the central staircase hall designed by the master architect Balthasar Neumann considered a masterpiece of German Baroque architecture. Nearby St. Peter's Church (St. Peter Kirche) is also a representative example of 18th-century Baroque architecture, famous for its solemn interior decoration and bishop's tomb.
